This is all I see. It is a real estate and speedâs game; how much how quickly and where can you get me power? Electric utilities perhaps too slow to make it happen.
Do most people imagine that data center growth is going to come from typical grid connections? What I am seeing is that many if not most data centers are building large-scale gas generation on-site "behind the meter" and may connect to the grid later.

We're building breakthrough zero-emissions power plants (Argon Power Cycleâą)âand we're growing the team. If you know sharp, mission-driven folks who want to work on real decarbonization and energy abundance, please send them our way. #EnergyTwitter

Third day of Dunkelflaute in north-west Europe. German wind power output has plunged to less than 0.2 GW, compared to an installed capacity of ~70 GW. Coal, natural gas and imports plugging the (huge) gap.
Europe is experiencing the first serious Dunkelflaute of the 2024-25 winter season, sending one-day ahead electricity prices well above âŹ100 per MWh.

Finally, requesting that the biogas be upgraded to renewable natural gas and sold to the gas grid means that the plant will need to buy power from the local utility. A risk I have come to know they are not willing to take.

In many cases the biogas is not even cleaned and it is consumed directly by the cogen plant. Seldom the gas is processed and burnt in more sophisticated generators to avoid air pollution but that comes at a hefty price.

Good tread on the theoretical value of gas flexibility. However a great challenge these biogas plants face, mainly those that carry out waste water treatment, is the fact that they barely produce enough biogas to heat their own digesters and power their operations.
What flexibility do we need from biogas?đ± Shifting baseload generation by a few hours with small storage helps, but what we really need is seasonal flex by upgrading to biomethane/ol (and using most of it in other sectors). A few thoughts on scaling, grids, liquids. đ§”

Finally giving a try to the Oakland-Alameda Water Shuttle. I have been waiting for it for years since the @SFBayFerry stopped providing the alameda-hop route. Hope this shuttle is here to stay! https://t.co/gtM2JcnqGQ

The recent rise in global mining is set to continue into 2024 and beyond as part of the global push towards #GreenEnergy So far this year we have mined 43,588,135,000 tons of resources from the earth. Mining has now become the number one toxic polluter in the world. #GreenEnergy

Sadly It seems that commuting between Oakland <-> Alameda is on purpose made impossible. Wondering why such an odd ferry schedule @SFBayFerry? I would love to bike to work and hop over but I am left to bike through the Webster tube. I end up driving. @CityofAlameda thoughts?
HEADS UP! Effective April 3, 2023, we'll be adjusting weekday and weekend ferry schedules to better serve riders. Check out the changes here: https://t.co/eweo2lD3xC.
