This is so true. Was wild to experience 2020 in SF, when huge areas became off limits to families. Safe neighborhoods skyrocketed seemingly overnight.
The fastest way to lower average housing prices in American cities is enforcing the law/reducing criminal activity. Huge chunks of high-density housing are trapped in Bad Neighborhoods, no-go zones depressed well below nearby prices. Nobody with options even considers them.

I'll take it a step further. People who say "unhoused" are implying the failure lies on the state and not the individual.
Saying unhoused instead of homeless is a strong signal that you are a weak person. You can't explain a meaningful difference, you have just been told to do it.
