We went to a spot not-quite-downtown to watch the fireworks. My youngest kept saying stuff like “yay USA” while I thought about how glad I am it’s summer & I don’t have to worry about his safety at school. Then someone sitting about 7-8ft away from him was hit by a bullet.
Here’s more on MALETA, the new

@GovBillLee
and the
@TNGOP
quietly decided to spend $415 MILLION of your dollars on — (while schools go underfunded, hospitals close, etc… “cool right”?🤔)
Sexton’s tickets to the House gallery are like Willy Wonka’s golden tickets —- but instead of chocolate Sexton’s factory makes really harmful legislation that helps nobody🍫
@JoshuaPotash
This is done on purpose. The school to prison pipeline is more profitable than having communities with adequate access to education and housing. Gotta fill up the prisons and make a killing off commissary or bail, collect all those court fees, fines, etc.
Wtf is wrong with people? Likely the bullet was from some asshat shooting into the sky bc we didn’t hear shots and no one was facing us. But still. What if that hit a kid in the head?
The adrenaline of grabbing the kids & getting out of there is wearing off and I’m gonna puke.
It’s setting in now how in a split second my sweet 9yo went from smiling and clapping and saying “yay america” to being carried by his running father and whimpering.
This greenway plan was released over 6yrs ago. The highlighted loop runs on the easement behind our property & currently that ROW is just overgrown brush. The loop would connect so many neighborhoods & give us safe ways to get downtown or to Geodis Park. Please

It’s not enough to say I hate this. It’s not enough to retweet or whatever. This isn’t another news story, it’s not another tweet. This is another human being who is gone now. Gone. Everyone should be furious!
Absolutely loving that I put this together in Adobe Illustrator and then it turns out there was a Canva template the whole time. Well done TNGOP. Quality stuff.
Outside of the very serious issue that the public is being restricted from attending legislative sessions, I would also like to lodge a complaint with the graphic designer responsible for these “guest passes.”
How can our constituents be “guests” in the PEOPLE’S HOUSE?!
@tnhousegop
@CSexton25
these absurd rules halve the number of people in the public who come to see the Legislature and advocate for our democracy. Why are democratically-elected leaders afraid of the people they serve?
How cool is it that I can walk roughly a mile from home and see LCD Soundsystem playing at a metro park with a replica of the Parthenon and beautiful sunset as the backdrop? Things like this make me love
#Nashville
Just going to repost these videos from the protest that happened the day the 3 of us walked to the well from my desk. Don’t believe the lies about violence that day. As the TN Highway Patrol said, there were no incidents, arrests, or damage.
Look at my child
@minimcdeaths
talkin’ shit to the Nashville Metro Council because they’re allowing taxpayers to get completely screwed over for a stupidass NFL stadium!
#NoNewNashvilleStadium
Here's my oldest,
@minimcdeaths
taking advantage of public comment, yet again, to make his voice heard to
#MetroCouncilNash
on the issue of SRO's, police budgeting, and accepting grant money from a state that wants to dismantle our city's self governance. ✊
The hot seat turns scorching for one mayoral appointee 🔥🪑
A caucus makes a statement 🗣️
And the kids might just be all right, if we stopped policing them 🚫👮🏻♂️
Shout out to the incredible

for always showing up & to the CMs who do more than just thanking him!
Nashville: Here’s some voting receipts for candidates who are running for county-wide seats. Issues included: LPR Program, public hearing for the stadium deal, The Stadium Deal, and The Roommate Bill which expanded how many unrelated people could live in the same dwelling.
So I put today's Nashville mayoral forum on to listen to while working on some "arts & crafts." When a neighbor came over I paused it, apparently I paused it on a most serendipitous frame during a video transition. 😄 Enjoy, y'all...
@Vivian_E_Jones
Wow. So the people who got caught told you some “it’s not what it looks like” excuse, so you ran with that as a fact and called it “highly edited.” Totally irresponsible.
As requested, here are vote receipts for Nashville CM's seeking re-election who have a challenger on the following issues: LPR program, Stadium Public Hearing, The Stadium Deal, and The Roommate Bill.
I unexpectedly lost my mom 8yrs ago today & I honestly can’t believe it’s been that long. I still try to call her sometimes to tell her funny things like when a worker at Cracker Barrel thought
@anguspurdy
‘s last name was Turdy. Grief gets easier to bear but oof it always hurts.
Went to the County-wide candidate meet & greet today at Dragon Park and took photos of unsuspecting candidates (+ one term-limited CM). And yeah, after I took a photo of Freddie I realized I did NOT need to be using a telephoto lens and promptly corrected that.
Waiting on a post-game bus because my new mayor
@freddieoconnell
made the fares free for a day. We’ve been here awhile. A long while. I’m obviously thrilled.
I just walked to an AirBNB that had a loud party in my neighborhood & when I got to it, it was a bunch of loud scary stumbling bro’s. This one parcel has 4 properties that cost 2300/a night for a bachelor party & it’s built where I once paid $200/mo for an apartment. Our city is
Yesterday there was an ad circulating that had aired during 60 Minutes slamming Freddie for being pro-transit, pro-bike lanes, and apparently pro-flowers. It was paid for by an unregistered PAC using a beloved reverend's name without his permission.
@LavysTurtle
2011, Sitting by the tunnel at a preseason game. Peks looked over at my kid (5) reached thru the rail, tapped him and said “nice jersey” my kid replied “I’m wearing this bc I’m on the team too, and look, so is my mom!” Peks agreed and said “good job, we need you man, keep it up.”
@AndyAxel
@CornerPubGH
To be clear, this is not a franchise and is not associated with the Corner Pubs in Franklin, Bellevue, Brentwood, and Downtown. This is a local business owned by a complete idiot who just outed himself as a hateful pile of human garbage.
I just remembered that back when we were 20yrs old it was around this time of year that
@anguspurdy
and I met. We were practically living together within a week- which sounds *completely* insane to me now. 24yrs and three kids later, we’re still together… 1/2

It’s time for the Airing of Grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people and now you’re gonna hear about all the ways you have disappointed me over the past year.
@kristiecsu
From one progressive to another, Stiffler’s mom, there are multiple times students are assessed and evaluated. One test shouldn’t hold determine their fate. And then re-testing calls them out for “not being smart enough.” Think that’s helpful for 3rd grade children?
I *just* found out that I actually know the conservative Nashville mayoral candidate running against
@freddieoconnell
and I’m kind of freaking out now. Hadn’t seen her since 2020 pre-covid and didn’t realize she was the same person I knew back then… My brain just exploded. Ouch.
@jhollymc
@TNLookout
I can’t believe I’ve been, and am, paying close attention to an election in Franklin, Tn… but, whelp, here I am watching the numbers roll in.
Today I wore my Bill Lee Is A Drag T-shirt to ride my bike 20 miles throughout the city. Also today, mayoral candidate Heidi Campbell posed for a photo with Bill Lee. Yuck Heidi, don’t do that.
My neighbors a few doors down are having an enormous house party with a loud band on the back porch and it’s fantastic. I love this neighborhood and I hope these neighbors stay for a long time.
Watching the tornado pass through live on traffic cameras was one of the most chilling experiences I’ve ever had. Now hearing news of multiple fatalities... 💔
It’s Valentine’s Day so I’m gonna brag that I’m lucky to have a spouse who “gets” me & surprises me year-round with cool things like hot wheels cars, oversized Reese’s cups, and a WWI military uniform.
Also he watches The Price is Right & shouts out bids at the screen with me.
I almost got hit by a carful of bachelorettes while biking on Belmont Blvd today and now I feel like I’ve gone through some sort of rite of passage as a cyclist in Nashville. ☹️
@NashvilleResist
@FLOTUS
I thought it was very tasteful and respectful for her to come and show support by her presence, at both the memorial site and the vigil, without making verbal statements. If she had spoken, we all know that the haters would have twisted it into her trying “steal the show.”
Canvassed for
@GinnyWelsch
through
@NJLVotes
in District 16 again today and was very disappointed that this house was not on my list of doors to knock.
30 days from today it will be *officially* too dangerous to raise your kids and teens in Tennessee. Not like this isn’t bad enough, it’s only going to get worse…
The results are in and by a 78%-22% vote, you all have decided you would like more stacked quadplexes over $1.4M detached 3700 sq ft HPRs built in your neighborhood. I agree.
I went to a reception for
@freddieoconnell
where
@mendesbob
stood next to me for like 10 seconds & I swear to god he’s like twice my height; I’m ~5’1”. That guy isn’t just a mental giant, but an actual giant.
@MNNGov
has not filmed from the appropriate angles to warn me of this.
Just landed in Long Beach, CA to stay for the next 5 nights and the list of items I’m suddenly remembering that I left behind at home is growing. Among them: any pants besides the ones I’m currently wearing.
I’m tired. I’m going to bed. And did I just say “I’m ready to beddy” out loud?
Yes. Yes I did. Thankfully, no one heard me, but my self-cringe is all your fault
@freddieoconnell
😒.
Ugh. Tomorrow is a new day… I used to be cool.
People asked for accessible equipment in community centers, funding for arts, funding General Hospital, youth services, greenspace cxns, walk/bike safety. Community investments ARE public safety. The safest neighborhoods don’t have the most police, they have the most resources.
Metro Council had pre-budget public comment at tonight’s meeting. For nearly 2 hours, Nashvillians continued to ask that the city better invest in our communities. Here are my comments.
Also since their receipt for the original print order has already been tweeted:
For anyone curious, the back of the passes are blank. The receipt notes 4/0 printing so- CMYK front, nothing on the back. Likely on a ~80lb coated cardstock…
Photos are NOT endorsements whatsoever. But I will say the two most delightful candidates I met were
@DelishiaForNash
and
@Oliviafornash
also I didn’t get a photo but my kids said vote for
@quinevanssegall
because she gave them candy (she already had my vote).
I watch a lot of metro council meetings and CM Porterfield always does right by her constituents. As an at-large member I trust her to represent the people of our city.

I accidentally told someone the bridge lights were “Freddie colors” despite knowing full and well that it was the city palette à la Nashville Metro seal/flag. Whoops.
