Yet, another DiD paper😄
Hi everyone! I am happy to share this note titled "Difference-in-Differences with Binarized Treatments: A Cautionary Tale". I study the common practice in DiD settings of recoding a multi-valued treatment into a binary indicator. I hope you enjoy it! https://t.co/caV7d6Sz94

Iran’s forced deportation of millions of Afghan refugees, many of whom risk prosecution by the Taliban, draws little global criticism, as it echoes Western anti-immigration policies. Without aid agencies like USAID, a humanitarian crisis is looming. #Afghanistan #Refugees

Today is the start of the school year in Afghanistan but girls are denied. Just a glimpse of what the ban does: we find that children of women who faced the first Taliban education ban had substantially lower levels of education. The effect transmits to the second generation!

#econtwitter I am looking for database of US higher education institutions that contains their year of establishment. The IPEDS does have that variable. Any leads?

It is over. Acemoglu, Simon, and Robinson got it and we don't have to speculate about them each year😅
BREAKING NEWS The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has decided to award the 2024 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel to Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson and James A. Robinson “for studies of how institutions are formed and affect prosperity.”
