whelp - with the twitter API down, I now get to try out the twitter app My usual client is tweetbot, which doesn't show promoted tweets. I'm not saying it's related to the emborkening of the API, but I'm not not saying that either. (the twitter app is Not Good, btw)

I’m taking what schadenfreude I can from Twitter’s shambolic decay but it masks a real grief. From interactive fiction to science communication to writing, I found communities here. I can’t stop all of that from being set on fire, but I can make fun shadow puppets in its light.

The option to "ps" to list all processes owned by a user is "-u". The option to "ps" to provide a full cmd output for processes is "-f". So if you want to see a full listing of all of a user's processes, use "ps -fu $USER" But that always feels a bit rude to me

The #AdventOfCode 2022 site is up! https://t.co/yUcqHAUJdX If you want to save Christmas from what will no doubt be a preposterous calamity (and maybe learn some programming along the way), then I'll see you December 1st!

Back in the olden days, TV volume knobs were analog. Now it's all digital, and the "volume" on my TV is represented as a number 0 to 100. This is bad, because whereas before I could just tweak the knob as needed, now I am somehow compelled to set the volume to a prime number.

I think this is a good way of understanding the phrase (see original question). It’s not yet idiomatic, but it looks like it might be someday
@timfoster @jbeck4004 Right, the unspoken/unwritten context is “I have doubts about my understanding” instead of the more idiomatic “I have doubts about what you are saying.”

Noticing more frequently that the word “doubts” is being used in place of “concerns” (at least in tweets I’ve been seeing) E.g. “I have doubts about the process” which is something I can’t interpret unless I think of it as “concerns”
