Sarpy Co. 911 Communications says they took more than 200 calls between 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. last night. The department has 7 employees working at any given time.

Battalion chief Jerry Anderson says a 3 inch gas line was hit by a contractor near 168th right by an entrance to the lake. While not a large gas line, it’s enough to do some damage. Definitely a smell in the air. @3NewsNowOmaha

The Omaha Fire Department says a gas leak in the area is preventing from people leaving the lake right now.

Papio NRD says the lake will save people money on flood-related costs while raising property values.

Flanagan Lake serves as a reservoir in the Papio Creek Watershed, providing flood protection in th area. The $47 million project is the largest flood control structure for the Papio NRD. City of Omaha manages park.
