Yes! This!!! Observability is the sense mechanism that creates a feedback loop. No observability? No loop. You're just injecting chaos into the system and walking away. If you observe, and learn, and iterate based on what you learned... That's how you build great software π
@mipsytipsy The teams that get this right treat o11y as product infrastructure, not ops tooling. When devs self-serve production answers, the deploy-learn-iterate cycle compresses. That flywheel compounds faster than anyone expects.

Blameless postmortems please π
Claude Code wiped our production database with a Terraform command. It took down the DataTalksClub course platform and 2.5 years of submissions: homework, projects, and leaderboards. Automated snapshots were gone too. In the newsletter, I wrote the full timeline + what I

Unpopular opinion: Unless youβre just prototyping, you should aim to understand as close to 100% of production code generated by LLMs. Yes, all of it. Effective mental models are still important for humans to sustainably maintain and evolve a codebase via prompting alone.

Remember Devin AI facing backlash a while ago? Fast forward to now, the industry is literally chasing the idea and one can only imagine whatβs coming! At least for a few weeks then Claude can do it too ππΎββοΈ

As a software engineer, can you deploy to production (directly or indirectly), or do you need to rely on another team (Ops) to do it?
