1/2 Let's break down the Acute Aortic Syndromes (AAS)! 🌟 -AD: A tear in the inner layer of the aorta, causing blood to flow between the layers and force them apart. -Intramural Hematoma: Bleeding within the aortic wall without an intimal tear, often a precursor to dissection.

Pro tip for all Internal Medicine trainees: When we say that a patient’s lab result is at “baseline,” if it is abnormal, there should be a reason why it’s abnormal. And we should be able to clearly articulate that reason, even if the explanation is simple. 1/
