I just don’t understand why they wouldn’t wait for
@seppkuss
- I’ve watched Sepp ride for them countless times while commentating these past years, I’m a huge fan of his. He’s class.
I didn’t enjoy watching that today, and I love bike racing, it made me feel 😞😡
#notclass
Up there with my favourite TdF moments this, I noticed them on the climb yesterday with a type of unified wave movement towards Quintana. FIVE STAR SUPPORTING 👏🏻
Well, another year done working alongside
@nedboulting
@Petekennaugh
@mrendell
& the legend that is Gary Imlach. It's been emotional, as ever. Thank you for following on
@itvcycling
- We'll meet again at the Vuelta. Lovely.
So we’re done -
#tdf2022
finished. Thanks
@itvcycling
for making it happen for us, and my wingman
@nedboulting
for being pro, and pretty
@Petekennaugh
for bringing the freshness; and thank you to everybody who sends lovely messages. Tour de France turns my Twitter happy. 🙏🏻
I hope Jan Ulrich's friends and family can help him stop the descending spiral he finds himself in. I couldn't stop it alone, the damage is real and he needs help to repair it as best he can before he writes himself off. If you see this, Jan, I'm up for sharing what I've learnt.
The Giro was supposed to start today. More importantly nine years ago today Wouter Weylandt died. I took the Maglia Rosa that day, I’ll never forget it. I wrote about it afterwards in order to make sure it existed outside my mind:
I’m doing this because i loved my time in the peloton, even though it fucked me up at certain levels and I have to deal with keyboard warriors forever, yet deep down it’s love and I don’t like watching it get treated like shit. So yeah, doing this

Thank you for the support, Twitter can be a good place. 🙏🏻
This is the best news professional cycling could have right now - if they’d shut down it would’ve been back to the dark ages - and chapeau on losing the biggest sponsor in professional cycling and replacing it with the biggest sponsor in professional cycling 👏🏻

1. Found out last night
@PaulSherwen
died. Didn’t want to believe the Twitter so waited till this morning, seeing
@PhilLiggett
confirm it meant it was real, I’m sorry Phil, I know you guys were like family to each other. Bear with me, bit of a thread here...
My heart and blood will always be Scottish. I’m proud to be British. I live in and love Catalonia and Spain. I grew up in Hong Kong and France. Each and every country I’ve lived in welcomed me as an equal, albeit with lesser linguistic skills, and improved me all the same. 🇪🇺
Tomorrow it happens:
@nedboulting
turns 50.
@Petekennaugh
& I have given him the gift of a race up La Planche des Belles Filles. He has 30secs advantage for each year older he is than us. More info to follow, this is the PLANK ATTACK 💥⚡️✨🍾 🤮

@therussellellis
This is awesome viewing. From my approx calculations
@alafpolak
took EIGHT seconds out of
@GeraintThomas86
in final 500m. He’s a weapon. Question is, how many bullets does he have left? ‘Cause he’s been shooting from the hip for nearly two weeks now - bike racing at it’s best.
I know it shouldn’t have been a surprise, but
@MarkCavendish
announcing his retirement caught me off guard all the same. He’s going to be missed, end of an era in more ways than one. So many memories…
Taking a little break from the social. Deleting IG and Twitter off my phone for a while. Being away and working and not being social reminds me once again that being on my own I end up just wasting hours a day scrolling through this stuff with no objective, let alone purpose.
Justin Gallegos, a runner at Oregon with cerebral palsy, thought he was just finishing another cross country race. Little did he know, Nike was waiting at the finish line to offer him a pro contract (via

The
@nedboulting
50th birthday Plank Attack run (no wheels) begins at 09:30 CET at the foot of Les Planches des Belles Filles. Pete & I have gifted him 30 secs for the years of age difference. Therefore I start at 09:34 and Pete at 09:40. It is a pursuit to the summit. No gifts.
I know the French police well, yet I can safely say that my overall impression is that the Gendarmerie are phenomenal at their job. And their job at the Tour de France is to protect the riders. During and after the race. Mistakes happen. Let’s not cast them in shadow.
When I posted this yesterday I had no idea it would touch so many people, thank you for sharing that with me, it reminded me it’s important we write things down, because some things need to be remembered.
I’ve met and shared conversations with many of the most influential (and historical) people in pro cycling - yet somehow I’ve managed to avoid ever sharing one word with Patrick Lefevere.
Looking back, I guess I did that deliberately.
Discovered something more painful than treading on LEGO. Bending down onto one knee to speak to my 2yr old daughter & placing nearly my entire body weight on rogue marble through my patella tendon. Sweetjesusmarymotherofgod. The horror, THE CONTAINED STOIC PROFANITY FREE HORROR.
On this, the final day of one of the greatest ever Tour de France, I thought I’d reminisce about my last day in the race back in 2013. An unknown goodbye and farewell:
When my 6yr old son found out I was coming to Scotland he had three questions:
1. Is that where
@danny_macaskill
is from?
2. Is
@danny_macaskill
real?
3. Daddy, are you going to talk to
@danny_macaskill
?
So yeah. I know my place. 🤷🏻♂️
I’ve got a car if any professional cyclist’s in Innsbruck want picking up and brought up to Mutters to vote? Could take me a few runs to tally up a good count, but hey ho, worth a go!
*Note to self - rent bus next time.
@millarforcpa
Cyclists aren’t the ‘scourge of the streets’. They are mothers, fathers, grandparents and children all doing their bit to make Britain a healthier, greener and more liveable place.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr
@lancearmstrong
- great at talking about it on a podcast, shit at actually doing it. 🙄 On behalf of the peloton, thanks for the support 🤦🏻♂️
I met Murray Walker once. I wanted to talk to him about motor racing, yet he wanted to talk to me about bike racing - and he knew more than I could tell him 🤯🥰 RIP
My father sent this through to me this morning - he was a pilot and understands airflow better than most - his comment?
“Drag ! Why aerodynamics matter !!!”
My parents never rode bikes yet they still teach me the science of it 🙄🤷🏻♂️🥰
Randomly gave

Brothers in arms. 💪🏻👏🏻
Rewind 17yrs 😱 This is me in the prologue of my first
@lavuelta
- I was like steampunk-future-shit. Fortunately I won. I’m writing stories about my history with that most favourite of races:
My wife ran the West Highland Way, started Tuesday, finished today. I was supposed to do it with her, I couldn’t because of injury, so it was all down to her. And she did us all proud, and for a cause close to our hearts:

In grand tours the leaders rely on their team mates to get them through the days they’re weak. That’s Sepp’s job. Tables have turned here. I like the idea that sport isn’t all rational number crunching, that occasionally emotional decisions win over. They’re the greatest stories,…
I wrote about this day: made me well up watching this just now as I’ve not seen it till today.
Damn you
@itvcycling
- yet ❤️ for what you’ve given me since:
Thanks to

I met a bit of hero last night. Mr
@GaryLineker
- when I was a young boy I loved football, and he was one of the greats. He’s since built another career and stands strong and proud in his opinions, and his opinions matter. 🙌🏻

When I was a young professional cyclist, and the internet barely seemed to exist, I used to visit cathedrals on my travels, which was weird, but needed at the time.
@nedboulting
Jesus Christ, I’ve been listening to podcasts at 1.5x speed for a few months, no wonder my brain is melted and I think all of them are mental. Thank you Twitter.🙌🏻
