"Self driving car is essentially solved (...)" - Marc Andreessen in a discussion with Peter Thiel in 2013.
Marc Andreessen says OpenAI's Sora is not only an AI model for video, it is a world model and the implication of this is that the fundamental challenge of robotics is solved and Westworld is only a few years away

For digital microscopes, the "magnification rate" is an illusion. If you have a home projector, you can easily get >600x.

I am very sad to inform this place, which he pretty much hated, that @dgolumbia died this morning. Any of his friends can contact me for further information. The love he shared with his friends and his brilliant research and writing are his legacy.

Transparent inlines are fully supported in Metals so let's take a look at a small library @Kordyjan, the S3 compiler team lead, is working on in spare time: https://t.co/mGhxf9iz3V Here's an interpolated graphql query that generates types as it's parsed. 2/

All of this would be appalling but essentially not worth commenting on if it wasn't gaining influential ground in the real world. The best person by far on all of this is @xriskology. Their work to understand and untangle longtermism has been brilliant https://t.co/Ue4mKM4NjN

An absolutely brilliant critique of longtermism by Dr. Alice Crary. I highly recommend it! So nice to see other philosophers sounding the alarm about how dangerous and deeply flawed the longtermist ideology is. Again, very highly recommended: https://t.co/sqwYCPWzUN

Every company has tech debt, but Twitter 1.0 had extensively invested (pioneered even) many mechanisms to safely test and deploy changes (including many types of config changes) in prod. Guess all those thousands of engineers were actually doing something worthwhile, after all.

1/ We won. Elon is going to step down. Worth thinking through the next big lie Elon is going to tell. That Twitter was going to go bankrupt before he bought it. This is another lie. Let’s look at the numbers. My sourcing is @WSJ.
