As mild as Rebecca has her visa renewal denied by the Hong Kong Immigration Department. It shows civil servants rather go tough to show their allegiance than making any move that deem unpatriotic (& lose their jobs).
🇭🇰 📺 🛂 . #Breaking: @business senior reporter @RChoongWilkins has had her visa renewal denied by Hong Kong authorities. Statement by @fcchk:.

Met Dr. Yoom Kim, new @TheMinjoo_Kr MP in the South Korean Parliament back in July. He is a dedicated advocate for better healthcare in South Korea, and speak against all vested interests. Gifted him items from @ScottishHK, and hope to see him again in 2027.

When I was in Seoul last month, I was invited by Uni-Media (Org behind @The_Daily_NK) to talk about Hong Kong under nat sec regime. It was broadcasted to North Korea by shortwaves (if not jammed), and circulated through informal means i.e. SD cards.

.Hong Kong's Watergate shows how officials and civil servants can destroy the sophisticated supply vetting system in the name of allegiance to Peking. Accountability? Forget it. Another sign of dysfunctional governance as I predicted last year.

That's nonsense. The Hong Kong authorities have no power to summon foreign CGs. It is Peking's OCMFA in Hong Kong has the power to do so. This statement shows they're either stating Hong Kong holds VCCR powers as an independent state or bluffing. @FCDOGovUK should respond.

East Asia is facing the same problem of aging population as Europe, but in a far worse scale. Immigration has been their solution to labour shortages, but the inclusion and acceptance have never done well. Labour practices made migrant workers largely segregated from the society.
1/ Last night, President Lee Jae Myung hosted foreign diplomats for dinner, where he directly acknowledged South Korea's xenophobia problem and vowed to "thoroughly deal with acts of discrimination, violence, and human rights violations" against migrant workers.

Another timely matter reported by Richard. Great job. While today's tech (Quantum computer) may not be powerful enough to decrypt encrypted data, what about in 3 or 4 decades? Can MI5 guarantees quantum computing will not reach the capacity to crack wiretapped cable packets?.
🚨NEW: MI5 has told senior MPs that security risks from China’s planned London embassy can be contained. China will find a way to spy whether project is approved or not, they said. More here:

Absolute nightmare! Disrupted subway leaving thousands stranded on the @expo2025_japan island. I visited the expo last month, and people relied on the 2-min interval train to leave without getting stuck at the station. Can't imagine they have to stay overnight over there.

Hong Kong Soul ( brings 3 performances to the @edfringe as well. Even if it's funded by the HK authorities, the HKETO did nothing, unlike their Taiwan & Korea counterparts, to promote these gigs. Maybe they're too busy to spy HKers in the UK.

Another piece of history showing that London felt Hong Kong was indefensible from the 1960s. Leaving the city after 1997 was, seemingly, the scenario they prepared for.
In 1971 the MOD wrote to Ministers, requesting that HM The Queen formally rescinded a TOP SECRET 'dormant commission' to the Commander British Forces Hong Kong, appointing him as governor during the final defence of the Colony against invasion. Short thread on colonial history./

Wong has faced numerous arrests and charges since he completed his sentence for leading the Umbrella Movement. The recent nat sec. charges continue the persecution by prosecution tactic by the Hong Kong authorities. My op-ed on Wong back in 2020.
