Chaotic. Good. CTO pushing bits & herding cats for @Greenfly. Views & commentary are my own. Justice is what love looks like in public.

I'm stuck waiting on someone, so a quick 🧵I've been meaning to write, pulling together a few strands. In his book The School for Dictators, Ignazio Silone famously called fascism "a counter-revolution against a revolution that never took place." There is much wisdom there.

I have a piece in The NYT this morning. A Minneapolis suburb hired a Black chief and assistant chief. Over half the department quit. Yet the world didn’t end. If cops would rather quit than respect the people they serve, maybe it’s okay to let them go. https://t.co/cQswpYMVSt

A reminder that we talk about the Big Lie like it’s some sort of clever propaganda concept but just listen to him here - he sounds deranged. If a guy like this sat near you on the subway spouting this stuff, you would move seats.
Trump: First of all, I won in 2020 by a lot Baier: You lost the 2020 election Trump: They were counting ballots, not the authenticity of the ballot. The ballots were fake ballots.

Way to talk in generalities Joe. Not saying there aren't a lot of fucked up things about pharma. That's why we created https://t.co/jYSNkP7amr. But to ignore that the same industry has saved who knows how many lives is bullshit and you know it. It's also disrespectful to all

Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug homepage. Provides safe, affordable medicine or medication with transparent low prices.
That would be a great suggestion if you could assure that the industry you were representing wasn’t completely captured by heartless monsters who have a history of some of the biggest criminal fines in human history because their deception has cost hundreds of thousands of people

A technobrat and third-tier actor have teamed to get people killed. And when polio and all else makes its inevitable comeback, they'll be elsewhere, walking sideways, counting cash. And I tweet this knowing every anti-vax moron will find me and I can block rank idiocy en masse.

A little over 24 hours until #BTC will hit $1 million USD, amirite?
I will take that bet. You buy 1 BTC. I will send $1M USD. This is ~40:1 odds as 1 BTC is worth ~$26k. The term is 90 days. All we need is a mutually agreed custodian who will still be there to settle this in the event of digital dollar devaluation. If someone knows how to do this

🚨🚨🚨 IRS = smart investment for our whole society
New Paper Alert 🚨 We estimate the returns to IRS tax audits across the income distribution. We find $1 of IRS spending on audits of top earners delivers more than $12 of tax revenue. Along the way, we provide new evidence of the strong specific deterrence effects of audits. 1/:

He wasn’t allowed to have them. He did have them. He denied having them. He hid them, played a comical game of cat and mouse with federal agents while leaving plenty of evidence of the shenanigans. #LockHimUp

Pat Robertson is no longer a part of this world and Donald J Trump was indicted on federal crimes. Today was a good day.

The historical record shows many of civilizations that have collapsed because of over exploitation of their natural resources, and none that have collapsed because LGBTQ people were treated with equality and respect.
Any society that isn't normatively based on heterosexual family formation is definitionally doomed to collapse. Pretending that society ought to be apathetic about such matters -- or even worse, condemnatory of the presence of traditional norms -- is civilizationally suicidal.

The debt ceiling doesn’t reduce spending or increase revenue. In fact, Congress has raised or changed the debt ceiling *78 times* since 1960—with no meaningful change to our budget decisions. It serves no purpose other than driving brinkmanship. Congress should abolish it.

Now’s the time to think about how bad a DeSantis presidency would be — beyond his absurd (but cruel) war on wokeness. What he’s wrought in Florida for the non-rich, for women, gay, trans & citizens of color. My @guardian column. #stakesnotodds

The news of the day: Arizona, Nevada and California have reached a deal to take less water from the Colorado River. It’ll likely mean painful water cuts. Here’s a look a where all the water in the Colorado River basin goes.

NEW -- AND IMPORTANT -- If a serial killer or a child molester ran for president, we'd expect to see that fact in every news story about him, right? So why do we almost never read of Trump's attempted coup in stories about *his* presidential campaign? https://t.co/bSxn0pRT4c

By failing to remind our audience what Trump did each and every time we mention him, journalists normalize his attempt to end American democracy on that January day.
