Since I was 18 my stepdad refused to drink New Years Eve just in case me, my sister, or his son couldn'tget home and needed a lift. I'm 47 now and he's still "on call" tomorrow night - this time for his grandchildren. No one has ever called but he'll still wait up just in case 🥹

Scientists identified a single bacterium responsible for 76% of all stomach cancers. It already lives inside roughly half the human population. Most carriers feel perfectly fine. Years later, cancer appears without warning. This is what it is (and how I’d prevent it):

Been paid off 3 days before Christmas holidays due to there not being enough work after the year. Full qualified floor layer with 9 years experience, if anyone knows of any flooring companies taking on. Failing that, happy to do absolutely anything. RTs appreciated

A 15-year-old student has drawn global attention after developing a device capable of detecting pancreatic cancer at its earliest stages. This matters because pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest cancers largely due to late diagnosis. The invention is a low-cost sensor

As somebody with 30 years of marriage this is the most accurate representation I've read in a while. If you're in a hard season know that it need not last forever, and commit to working together to find your path again. As my grandma wisely said: when you have little ones in

No one tells you how many versions of your marriage you’ll live through. The newlywed version. The exhausted new-parent version. The “ships passing in the night” version. The we’re both stressed but trying” version. The one person is thriving and the other is struggling

When women get a cervical biopsy - which involves cutting off a small piece of the cervix - we are offered no pain management whatsoever, not even a numbing agent. The cervix is sensitive; even having it hit during sex can be extremely painful. Having a piece of it cut off

I just finished my last chemotherapy treatment and while there is a lot more treatment to come (radiotherapy, pills, injections), it’s a great milestone. And of course with thanks to @ImperialNHS

Just some British patriots in Benidorm, taking over a street in Spain to shout in their own language about unwanted foreigners. It’s a blessing that they are too thick to understand irony.

They didn't want my blood, but they probably want yours! I went to give blood today, but due to a v minor medical issue they couldn't take it. Yet they told me they do need donors. As I couldn't help by giving, instead, I thought i'd publicise this...

🚨 Islington Council sent bailiffs to evict a man with incurable cancer. He was turfed onto the streets with just the clothes on his back and his crutches. They then disposed of his belongings including medication. He told me he has to wash in McDonald’s toilets and sleep on
