All great points, and very nice analysis. At the end of the day, and IMO, some of this has been driven by the shift to pass/fail grading in many contexts. Students feel like they need some way to stand out, and publishing has become one of those ways (for better or worse). #MedEd.
Itās time that we in #meded ask ourselves if churning out pubs is educationally beneficial for medical students, or if we can reshape the system to reward a focus on quality rather than quantity
