i had a judo instructor who was like this. he was not a natural (he would have liked to have been, judo was the love of his life) but it made him an excellent teacher.
you don't want to learn from the best in the field. they will find you irritating, slow and clumsy. they will be unable to explain their intuitive leaps. you want to learn from someone with zero natural talent who nonetheless grinded their way to mid level competence.
