17/ Recruitment & Retention While I hate making predictions, I am confident in this one. Longitudinal Family Medicine WILL die in this province without reform at the highest levels. NPs are helping for sure, but will not be enough to save an inherently flawed system..

What universe does this happen in? Minister of Health is faced with huge doctor shortage in his province, so he insults the doctors already working there; this is real? In BC, yes

Well trained young Family Physicians have a lot of career options and unless the incentives line up for full scope longitudinal practice we can't realistically expect that many will choose that sort of work. The right people The right training The right incentives All 3...
No support for new FM trainees, rising business costs and inflation, no help for young docs wanting to do longitudinal family medicine...hence why no one does it. It's simple, the incentives just don't line up

I’ve been tweeting about Covid for nearly 2 years. But this week it became personal when my 28-year-old younger son got it. With his permission, I’ll describe his experience & how I approached his situation, given the realities of life and the rapidly changing evidence.(1/25)

Some thoughts on how celebrities help or hurt the fight against COVID: The fault in our stars: Aaron Rodgers reminds us why celebrity shouldn't trump science @picardonhealth @PennyDaflos @pat_health @MedicineMatters

NFL star Aaron Rodgers has amplified dangerous and disproven myths about the COVID-19 vaccine. Here’s why his statements are not only untrue, but also harmful because they spread misinformation.

Singapore will apparently stop covering the medical bills of unvaccinated COVID patients who refused to get vaccinated. The worst punishment they could think of was the American healthcare system. Let that sink in.

Our 25 bed ICU has 25 unvaccinated Covid patients. It is expanded by taking resources to accommodate other emergencies. If everyone was vaccinated, and the virus was still circulating at the same rate, we would have 2 or 3 intubated Covid patients. Easily absorbed. #icanteven

For everyone we had a chance to see and spend time with we are so grateful. We’ll be back to visit, though please don’t judge us too harshly when we get soft because winter won’t really be a thing for us anymore and I’ll forget that -10 means it is a beautiful winter’s day. 5/n

Wpg will always be home but now it’s time for more stability. To our friends & family in Wpg and MB: we will miss you. It was an incredible 2 years being back. We’re sorry that COVID prevented us from fully taking advantage of it. 4/n

Well it’sthat time of year – the time for new beginnings (for those of us in medicine). July is when medical students become residents, residents are promoted to the next year, or residents graduate + enter practice or fellowship. I’m happy to share a new beginning as well. 1/n
