@EastMidRailway The answer here after a bit more digging was 'I didn't submit it' (both GWR and EMR were delayed, but GWR caused the greater overall delay to the total travel time, so that one got submitted and later approved). Still a very confusing email to receive.

Why is claiming Delay Repay such a headache in the UK? The latest instalment of this - @EastMidRailway has somehow 'lost' the journey and ticket info in a DR claim I submitted in November, saying I didn't enter it. Their form literally *does not let you proceed* without doing so.

So my @unsereOEBB NightJet is cancelled this evening due to the weather in Germany. Go to the ticket office, five minutes at the counter and I have a voucher redeemable for a room at one of about 8 hotels in the city. So simple, and something the UK rail industry could learn from

As I write this, I am just leaving Hamburg on an IC1, but by this evening I will have hopefully had the contrast of old vs new!

This weekend marks the beginning of the end of the old IC1 DB carriages on international routes. Now gone from Amsterdam-Berlin and days are numbered on Hamburg-Copenhagen as the Talgo sets replacing them get their first passenger runs (domestic today, international from Monday).

The 'Thalys-ification' of @EurostarUK continues. Along with the meal timings change @seatsixtyone Tweeted about a few days ago, it seems there is now no Plus catering *at all* Brussels-Amsterdam, with people told to go to the Cafe Bar if they want food/drink before Brussels.

Can’t immediately find a better source but it looks like Friday might have been my last run on Berlin-Amsterdam as an IC. ICEs are coming in from mid-October apparently

Prague to London in a day ✅, a 17 hour trek across Europe! Started tracking along the Elbe at 0628, pulled into St Pancras bang on time at 2157. Wouldn’t recommend normally (suspect @seatsixtyone would agree) but circs forced our hand so pleased we made it work! #trainsnotplanes

What a brilliant evening with @MrTimDunn, one of the @BFI documentary curators & 400 other audience members going back through 200 years of railway history in film… my personal highlight being a ‘30s overview of a York station manager.. oh and the Titfield Thunderbolt clip!

Props to @EastMidRailway and @TLRailUK for an excellent co-ordinated RRB ‘bus station’ at Bedford this morning. Running every 5 minutes between Bedford and Milton Keynes from today until 29th except Christmas/Boxing Days due to engineering works south of Harpenden.

This line diagram needs a reprint I think @TfL - it is entirely incorrect to show @HeathrowAirport as outside Z6, by all means highlight special single fares on Oyster/CPC but the line separating it from the Zones is simply wrong and misleading. Paper tickets inc Z6 are valid.

.@British_Airways are absolutely useless - my compensation claim was closed without reply due to an 'error', and apparently if I hadn't chased it would have just been left abandoned. How many others has this affected after the recent IT issues, I wonder?!

Been a while since I’ve done London to Amsterdam entirely by train (I usually take the ferry nowadays), but today is a good reminder as to why rail is a good choice (per @seatsixtyone) …. Everything on time so far; the connector at Brussels was open too, a pleasant surprise!
