Utterly baffling that @AndrewMarr9 won’t let @BorisJohnson point out the contrasts between an @Conservatives government and the Marxist, bankrupting, insecure leadership that @jeremycorbyn would provide.

A Fleet St tragedy that my former employer seems no longer to even know what Parliament is for. I’ll vote with the government but questioning the integrity of these good people is anti-democratic madness.

Lord Adonis claims the biggest Brexit issue of future months will be relationship between Lords and Commons. Actually it will be the relationship between the Lords and democracy. #sundaypolitics.

If you doubt why we need to leave the EU on October 31st, read this. It is literally democracy that is at stake.
New polling shows that trust in politics has been corroded by the failure to leave the European Union, to the point where 69% of Leavers have no trust in MPs at all. Read more on this alarming statistic in @rcolvile's 'Popular Capitalism' report.

Honoured to be asked by @BorisJohnson to join @DCMS as Parliamentary Under Secretary looking after digital. It’s a hugely important area of all our lives, as I know not least from my focus on broadband in Boston and Skegness. Looking forward to getting stuck in.

As Britain goes forward to seize this new opportunity, we need magnanimity and optimism. Just the right tone from @BorisJohnson.
“When I look at the potential of this country waiting to be unleashed, I know that we can turn this opportunity into a stunning success.”. 🗣🇬🇧 @BorisJohnson’s address to the nation on #BrexitDay.

Following a donation of £1.5m, apparently Sir Keir is prepared to accede to the demands of Just Stop Oil. Short-sighted, irresponsible and practically guaranteed to make working people poorer. 213,000 UK jobs and £87bn at risk.
🚨 BREAKING: Sir Keir Starmer confirms Labour would follow Just Stop Oil’s policy of banning new oil and gas licences - despite 200,000 British jobs dependent on the sector.

Labour has today torn up the immigration policy Sir Keir Starmer announced on Thursday. From the environment to house building and now this, the only consistency Labour offer is constantly shifting policies. Bad for the economy and bad for Britain.
🚨Exclusive. Keir Starmer issues big clarification on @skynews Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips . Says it’s “complete nonsense” that a Labour government would join EU migrant quota system. “We will not part of that (quota scheme)”. “We are not an EU member and that wasn't

A while ago I was on a ministerial visit with @andy4wm - he stopped an all male photo until we could find, in a room of 400 people, the woman who had been crucial to the project. Not just someone who did the right, decent thing, but someone who struck the right tone. A huge loss.

My dad was born in 1930, was evacuated, did national service, ran a business and also (once) to be a Tory councillor. I have no idea what he’d make of me or the world today. But if he taught me one thing it was to never give up on things that matter. #fathersday2020

The damage this policy would do to communities will make hotel use seem trivial, and it will hit areas where housing waiting lists are longest hardest. It will put rocket boosters under discontentment.
According to the Times, @YvetteCooperMP is planning a mass procurement of HMOs, family properties, former care homes & student accommodation for small boat arrivals. This will push up rents & squeeze accommodation in private rented sector. Will also be very expensive. Makes a.

‘Responsible opposition’ would be backing the use of PPE at the right level and in the right places, as per PHE guidance. This is either a misjudgment or a wilful misunderstanding from Keir Starmer.
It is quite frankly insulting to imply frontline staff are wasting PPE. There are horrific stories of NHS staff and care workers not having the equipment they need to keep them safe. The Government must act to ensure supplies are delivered.

The harm that Matthew Parris’s article has done to this noblest of causes in a single day is immense. It must not be allowed to obscure the real issues at stake and the nuanced arguments they require.
I feel so conflicted about assisted dying. I’m one of a minority who voted in favour of the last Bill before the Commons. In the last six months I’ve watched two people I loved die slowly and painfully, wishing it could end sooner. Matthew Parris’ argument is chilling.

Britain’s economic growth in the pandemic wasn’t what Labour gleefully, opportunistically claimed at all. Today’s upgrade from the ONS vindicates the government’s approach, and suggests that current measures too will do what needs to be done.
I'm proud of the support I put in place as Chancellor during Covid. From the furlough scheme to the Culture Recovery Fund, we protected millions of jobs and got the economy growing again. Now, we need to halve inflation and stick to our plan.

Britain until very recently was largely free of the radicalised, violent far right. The last few days have challenged that assumption, and it’s down in part to social media. It can and must be tackled urgently, but it’s not just meta and x that enable and licence it.
Breaking:. Keir Starmer warns social media companies and those who run them that violent disorder whipped up online is a crime. 'It's happening on your premises. The law must be upheld everywhere. We will take all necessary action to keep our streets safe'.

It’s extremely hard to understand why the police would arrest a journalist. I hope a fuller explanation or an apology is provided very rapidly.
Yesterday I was arrested by @HertsPolice whilst covering a protest on the M25. I showed my press card, and I was handcuffed almost immediately. My phone was snatched out of my hand. I was searched twice, held in a cell for 5 hours, and I wasn’t questioned whilst in custody.
