I am one of the few reporters who examined Plaskett's relationship with Epstein. She accepted sizeable amounts of money from him and was one of the few people who refused to return campaign contributions even after it was clear he had committed so many crimes against girls.

The only good way to show up in these emails is for Epstein to be dragging you. Proud of my friend @AkbarSAhmed who’s in here getting called “a very gay Pakistani”.

Chomsky tells Epstein that he finds it insane that the Visa Waiver Program doesn't allow people that have traveled to Iran (as a result of a late Obama era law), but has no similar restrictions about Saudi.
Another interesting one - Epstein tells some guy named Anas Alrasheed he hopes his fasts are easy (this is the first week of Ramadan in 2019). The guy then expressed his concern war is coming to the Middle East & Epstein sends him an article which calms him down

Dershowitz: The predecessor on your show described Epstein as a convicted pedophile. He pleaded guilty to one count of having sex for money with a 17-year-and-10-month-old person. That’s not a pedophile.

I asked Zohran about a circulating video in which he says that “elected officials” and “foreign leaders” are “free to travel,” which appeared to be in response to a question about Netanyahu attending his inauguration. He clarified that he was answering a different question about

Breaking news: Newly released documents from Jeffrey Epstein’s estate show that he appeared to be texting a member of Congress during a congressional hearing investigating Donald Trump, and that those texts may have influenced the lawmaker’s questions.

Iran is one of the most mentioned topics in the new batch of Epstein emails. There's hundreds of mentions of the word. This included dozens of articles that famous people either sent Epstein or Epstein sent others. Here were some of the most notable examples I saw 🧵👇

Having recently visited Ramallah, it’s an open secret there that al-Sheikh urged the Trump admin against releasing Barghouti. And this poll shows why. As one of few leaders who can potentially unite Palestinian factions, he threatens the power of the corrupt and unpopular PA.
Mahmoud Abbas designated Hussein al-Sheikh as his successor to lead the Palestinian Authority, but polls show imprisoned Marwan Barghouti commands 49% support while al-Sheikh barely registers @KhJacki

The North Atlantic Gyre/Gulf Stream is crazy. A natural pump that trades hot Caribbean water with cold Arctic water. Europe "should" have the climate of sub-Arctic Canada. New York "should" have the climate of Spain. Britain's rain is the backwash of Caribbean hurricanes.

Again, whether Epstein's friends/associates acted *morally* wrong is a separate question from whether they are *legally* liable. But *both* questions are in the public interest given that many of these people are in positions of power over our society.

People didn't just "associate" with Epstein after the arrest, in terms of letting him come to parties. They traded favors with him regarding *sex* — you know, the area where he had committed notorious crimes — high-stakes political and financial issues, or both.

Epstein's friends were drawing birthday cards like this for him in 2003, three years before his first arrest. People knew what he was doing, saw it as predatory, and accepted it or even laughed at it and encouraged it. That is scandalous.
@matthew_petti The "procurement of minor for prostitution" charge he pleaded guilty to related to a 17-year-old, who would not have legally been a minor in other states. So no, it's not surprising that people didn't declare he was never to be "associated" with again for the rest of his life

after it all came came to light, but also trusted Epstein — a guy I wouldn’t trust with my pet goldfish — with high-stakes political and financial matters? Leave aside the legal question of guilt — you don’t think there’s anything untoward or scandalous about it? (2/2)

You don’t think it looks bad on anyone that prominent people were treating it as a punchline that Epstein paid teenage runaways to molest them? That these jokes were being made, in writing, for years before the police stopped him? Or that they not only socialized with him (1/2)
The "guilt by association" dramatics are so tedious. There's nothing per se "disturbing" about having an "association" with someone who was convicted of a crime years earlier, and served their sentence. Epstein pleaded guilty to two state-level prostitution crimes. The idea

As for the "it's just a joke" crowd defending The Babylon Bee's pager image aimed at Megyn Kelly, I keep asking them: what was the "joke" here? None will explain the joke. What was it? Also quite notable when "it's just a joke" applies and doesn't: https://t.co/Dv5GVpdBp0
