We expect the price of crude oil to fall to below $60 per barrel by the end of the year and average near $50 per barrel through 2026. #STEO. Our forecasts are here: .➡️

ERCOT July data is out, so here are some updated monthly charts. * Demand continues to soar.* Solar continues to soar.* W+S will exceed 40% early/mid 2026.* Clean energy will exceed FF before 2030

Myth: Every GW of wind and solar has FF plants standing by to take over. Reality: All of the FF + nuclear plants in ERCOT couldn't handle peak load without wind and solar. Peak load has exceeded thermal capacity every year since 2022. And the difference is growing.

I've seen posts lately about there being many new natural gas power plants planned in Texas. I looked at the ERCOT Interconnection queue, but without historical context it was hard to know if the planned natural gas was a lot or just normal. So, here are some historical charts:

Added a wifi connected clamp power meter to my air conditioner condenser outside. I was going to put it in the circuit breaker box, but I realized if I put it inside the condenser then I can measure fan and compressor power individually. Yay more data!

The people who tell you draining the SPR was bad are the very same people who pushed for laws requiring the SPR to be drained.

Their post is technically correct (at least in latest yearly data), but context matters. The very next yearly data point will almost certainly show wind and solar above nuclear.

Did you know: Nuclear power plants provide 19% electricity generation in the U.S., more than solar and wind combined! 🔥.

The people angry now about the SPR being drained are often the very same people who ordered it be drained. To be fair, Biden did execute the sales earlier than they mandated, but Republicans clearly WANTED the SPR drained within the next few years anyway.

We’re rebuilding the Strategic Petroleum Reserve—$1.3 BILLION to refill what Biden recklessly drained. This is about real emergency preparedness, not political gas games. Which is a personal issue for TX-14. We house about 60% of our nation’s SPR.

Another case of Biden supposedly ruining energy production, but in secret so you can't actually see any change in the production data:

Spent the morning at Alaska’s North Slope, home to the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska!. For the last four years, Alaska has been punished by the Biden administration’s radical, America-last energy agenda. Under @POTUS, we’re changing course and bringing in an energy

Conclusion: If they spend that much, it will have a noticeable impact, but will not put the SPR anywhere near full.

House bill proposes $1.3b in SPR purchases next year. Here's how the SPR would change if they spend that much every year for next 4 years:. blue = pre-Biden forecast.red = how Biden deviated.green = future fcst Biden left to Trump.purple = future fcst if Trump spends $1.3b/year

Beware of people using too-recent data. Many counter data sources keep increasing months after initially being posted, as reports trickle in late. In this screenshot, Jan+Feb 2025 = 88.As of today, Jan+Feb 2025 = 175.Same period 2024 = 174. And still (slowly) rising.

@Noahpinion At this point, I guess they kind of have to crash the economy as quickly as possible after the election just so they can point at Biden and say, "See, I told you the economy was going to crash because of Biden! Look at the mess he left us!".
