In 1986, there were <200 breeding pairs of Piping Plovers in MA This year we counted >1,100 pairs—the most on record We’re thrilled to see our 35+ yrs of conservation work paying off. More work left to restore populations to health, but this is progress!

The people at @massaudubon are amazing. Look no further than Dave Rothstein, who set an unofficial world record by paddling more than 40 miles in a giant pumpkin to raise awareness about the Connecticut River Watershed. Bravo, Dave!

Incredibly grateful to @RepMcGovern for championing the Connecticut River Watershed Partnership Act. The CT River Watershed is the lifeblood of New England & this bill would finally create strong federal support for its protection. Now we're rooting for you to get it passed!
The Connecticut River Watershed is 7.2 million acres & provides drinking water for millions. This morning I was in Hadley to join with local leaders & discuss my bill to protect this river. We will preserve its natural beauty for generations to come—and we will do it together.

There’s much more in this document that is so important: clean energy infrastructure siting, coastal resiliency & permitting for salt marsh restoration; climate service corps; K-12 curriculum for climate education, to name 4. We're excited to work together to get this all done!

We’re also excited by the focus on biodiversity as a climate solution, and commend Gov. Healey on signing EO 618, establishing biodiversity targets for Massachusetts. Can’t wait to work with @massDFG on this important initiative!

Chief Hoffer and @massgovernor have already committed to the goal of permanently protecting 30% of MA’s natural and working lands by 2030 & 40% by 2050. Today’s recs provide the nuts and bolts for implementing that goal—a key step in reaching net zero GHG emissions by 2050.

Chief Hoffer centers climate as an issue of public health, environmental justice, food & water security, workforce & economic vitality, and more – climate touches every aspect of state gov’t. We applaud this novel, whole-of-government approach, and support so many of the recs.

"By shifting from large, ground-mount solar to more projects on rooftops, parking lots, and already-developed lands, Massachusetts can head off further damage to forests and farmlands while meeting net-zero emission goals." #mapoli
