Soviet joke: Each day a man eyes Pravda's front page as he passes a newsstand. One day the proprietor asks him what he's looking for. "An obituary," says the man. "Comrade, the obituaries are inside the paper," says the proprietor. The man replies: "Not the one I'm looking for.".

Money's value is simply confidence that it can be exchanged. But while gold is pretty and can be made into things, and government-backed currency has the government's credibility behind it, crypto has no value aside from people's belief. Therefore crypto people MUST proselytize.

In "The Story Paradox," Jonathan Gottschall makes the point that, given the choice between an exciting story and a dull reality, many people will choose the exciting story. The instance below is silly; but this tendency is at the base of many of our current problems.
