@ENERGY And nat gas infrastructure is essentially worthless when you can’t secure gas. The US DOE shouldn’t be bashing sources of American energy. This is just petty/embarrassing behavior that should be beneath this office. Gross.

“Let’s get all the data centers connected and powered through the grid and also ensure reliability and also set reasonable prices for everyone.” The US would benefit greatly if people in power were able to talk opening about trade-offs rather than selling preferred fantasies.
@FERC While there is the usual devotion to "facts and law" and executing the laws Congress has authorized FERC to administer, the only notable policy announced so far is a focus on winning AI and getting data centers connected to and power through the grid asap.

We have real problems, but political fear-mongering ain’t gonna solve ‘em. This is nonsense on stilts. The grid is not in imminent danger of collapsing, nor is the DOE action preventing any such future hypothetical collapse.

You can disagree with them/consider them misguided, but at least dem administrations did stuff from a place of principle and true belief in something. This is “waste money & interfere in industry to own the libs.” Just complete and utter embarrassment.
Breaking News: The Trump administration ordered construction to stop on a $4 billion wind farm off the coast of Rhode Island that has already mostly been built.

@MeredithAngwin Maybe from NYISO, but I don’t know whether sufficient transmission for this exists in near term. NJ’s other two neighbors are PJM states and, barring those states also leaving, their supply will still first serve PJM’s market…

This is hot garbage. I’m sorry. Just wow. Prices are high bc power plants are closing while demand is skyrocketing due to data center growth. PJM isn’t “blocking” anything. All the solar in the queue can come online tomorrow and it won’t solve this issue.
If you were appalled by your utility bill this month, you’re not alone. New Jerseyans are bearing the brunt of failures by our grid operator, PJM. And today, we found out they’re raising rates again. Here’s how I’ll address PJM’s mismanagement and lower your utilities 🧵1/13

@megynkelly @realDonaldTrump @Congressman_JVD To me, wind turbines look awesome. They certainly look better than fossil plants, but I don’t see you commenting on those. When it comes to US energy, our decisions should not be based on how “pretty” a technology looks. Goodness gracious. 🙄

On the one side we have dems taking untenable positions on e.g., care for minors, on the other, we have GOP’s insane rudeness and worse to someone just living their lives and writing about economics. WHERE ARE THE ADULTS IN THE ROOM??
So: The Dispatch hired a brilliant economics writer who I've been following for a long time who has less than 50,000 followers on X. Because she's trans, they got dogpiled with hate/cancellations, her kids got doxxed by Babylon Bee, and it's so bad on X she's leaving.

But, I thought we were unleashing US energy dominance??? This administration is a joke.
At a moment of rapid demand growth and a growing electricity affordability crisis, the Republican's One Big Horrible Bill will RAISE TAXES on the only new sources of electricity we are able to rapidly add to the US grid in four different ways.

It’s disgusting when dem lawmakers are targeted. It’s disgusting when Trump is targeted. It’s disgusting when CEOs are targeted. It’s all disgusting. There’s no “yes, but..” It’s disgusting.
I am horrified by the targeted shootings of Minnesota Sen. John Hoffman and Rep. Melissa Hortman. My heart is with their families during this unimaginable tragedy. We must stand united, Democrats and Republicans, and make clear that political violence has no place in our

Very heartened that many Dems aren’t defending the violent rioters this time around. Stop drawing attention to yourselves and away from the injustice!! It’s not “righteous”. It’s stupid.

I unapologetically stand for free speech, peaceful demonstrations, and immigration—but this is not that. This is anarchy and true chaos. My party loses the moral high ground when we refuse to condemn setting cars on fire, destroying buildings, and assaulting law enforcement.

You know, I hope it reminds people that the best way to make an impact is by becoming immigration attorneys, not setting cars on fire. Rioting accomplished 0 in 2020 and will accomplish 0 here. It’s actually a net negative bc it diverts attention away from the actual awful thing.
I hope, if nothing else, what's going on in LA will remind the nation's young people that true rebelliousness is not saying slurs that HR told you not to say, it's fighting fascists who are using state power to suppress speech & impose violence on marginalized groups.

PJM Interconnection Senior Vice President Asim Haque points to rising demand, retiring plants and delayed supply – not grid operator missteps – when it comes to rising costs.

Fewer activists have done less for the people they purport to help while causing more harm to their fellow citizens than the western Free Palestine movement.
When you repeat slogans like “globalize the intifada,” you are inciting violence against Jews in the United States and around the world. The danger of incitement is no abstraction. It became tragically real on the night of May 21st, when a virulent antisemite—shouting “Free

The interview @ezraklein did with @RepMGP was frustrating. There was a lot of “don’t make people feel less-than for their choices while I make you feel less-than for your choices.” Not the way forward for Dems.

And full disclosure that I work at PJM. There are undoubtedly things that PJM can do better. But the problem is much much more complicated than “that evil org is raising your power bills”.

This is why I left the climate advocacy world and went to industry. It’s much easier to produce a report than actually make change. I implore Evergreen Action staff to take some time and work for utilities, grid operators and/or project developers.
