Being a dutiful citizen changes us, it changes our county. To love and to serve this great nation is beautiful — not because it is a perfect nation, but because in doing so we preserve the elements of what makes it great. It is a gift to honor veterans today. Thank you,

It was great to tour Krume Custom Lumber and Regenerative Industrial in Onalaska. Krume Custom Lumber is uniquely equipped to handle oversized and fire salvaged logs to create hand crafted custom lumber products. It was so cool to see their partnership with Regenerative

When corporate interests tell farmers that they can’t fix their own equipment, they should know they’ve crossed a line. My bill would make it clear that Congress's loyalties are with America’s farmers – not the multinational conglomerates who are rolling them over a barrel.

I’ve visited CTE programs in all seven counties in Southwest Washington. It was great to visit the Onalaska High School CTE program – it’s a prime example of why we need to fund Career and Technical Education. The Onalaska High School Aquaculture and Natural Resource programs

A lot of hard working families have spent the last few weeks stressed out, squeezing pennies because politicians have been playing chicken with their food security. Enough. This ruling is a good step but it’s cold comfort when Congress refuses to get its shit together, come

I'm so proud of the students I met at La Center High's new skilled trades center. They're learning how to build stuff that really lasts, and we need to value the abilities and perspective that they'll carry with them.

More than 22 million Americans live in manufactured homes, but they've been largely neglected as a vehicle for building generational wealth and self-determination in this country.   It was so encouraging to engage with such a community minded and strategic group of people at

Local corrections officers shoulder an incredibly heavy emotional burden, and their labor too often goes unseen and underappreciated. My visit to the Skamania County Jail helped me better understand the challenges corrections officers face in rural communities, and I'll keep

Shutting the government down over policy differences is like bringing a jackhammer to a job that needs a chisel.   My thoughts on the shutdown in @thecolumbian: https://t.co/masVe2ZH7m

We’re now in the third week of a reckless government shutdown, and the only thing either side can see eye to eye on is that it’s the other guy’s fault.

The deadline to apply for a Winter Internship in my D.C. and Washington offices is right around the corner!   I encourage young people from ALL backgrounds to apply—you don't need to have worked in politics before or be attending a 4-year college to get involved.

Mobile homes are a great option as we look for ways to address the housing crisis, but many of my colleagues have never stepped foot in one. I’m grateful to mobile home owners in Cowlitz and Clark Counties for joining my roundtable and helping me think through ways to reduce

I’m relieved to hear that — after two years of unknowable suffering — the remaining hostages are reunited with their families. The road to a lasting peace remains challenging, but runs through a strong commitment to our shared humanity.

Our local fishermen work incredibly hard and are the backbone of our coastal economies. I joined crab fishermen and shellfish growers to hear about challenges they're facing with federal agencies and discuss my efforts to fund dredging to support navigation and higher catch

Did you know my team can assist with delayed or missing Social Security checks, tax refunds, passports, or veterans benefits? My team will be in Naselle on October 22 to assist with federal agencies, and we've already served thousands of folks across Southwest Washington.
