This new H1-B 100K rule would accelerate the move of projects and talent hiring to India. Every big US tech company already has branches in Indian cities — now they would just double down on them. For 100K, they could easily hire 2 new engineers for a year in India.

This new 100K H1-B fee starting Sunday — with already worst pathway to citizenship — is a good reminder for Indians to consider Canada, Australia or the UK as the primary work destination instead of the US. Come to the US on TN or E3 visa, or EB1, not H1B.

@War4theWest OK - but quick thought experiment - let’s say there is a poor tribe on an island somewhere that has wild vanilla plants that don’t grow elsewhere. They’re desperately poor. And an enterprising American, Steve, travels there and teaches the tribe how to farm and grow a lot more
