I've seen a lot of tweets on high-skilled immigration in the US on my TL over the last few days. Most of them stay away from the issue of discriminatory country quotas. This one provides an excellent summary:.
Point #1. Country Caps were *not* meant for diversity, whatever that is. They are an artefact of 1924 immigration law that was meant to restrict Jewish and Southern European immigration with national origin quotas. Asians were already excluded and Indians had been denaturalised.
