I left Chicago with a renewed certainty in the importance of collective work and collaboration for the production of knowledge. Yes, to face these difficult times in which there are efforts to divide us—but also to live a better life: academic, personal, and political.

Finally, thank you to my Cambridge community for the collective support and for diving into discovering Chicago together, and to my supervisor, Kathryn Moeller, for guiding us in navigating these spaces with such generosity, care, and wisdom.

Maria and I also joined in the discussion for the launch of the new Research Handbook on Education Privatization and Marketization, where Antoni Verger moderated a very interesting conversation in which we discussed the book’s themes and the boundaries it pushes for research.

Thanks to my brilliant colleagues: @Rocio_Fdezug, Anna Maria Del Fiorentino, Bruna Dalmaso-Junqueira - and a special thanks to Maria Balarin, who shared spot-on reflections as our discussant.

It was also important for me to begin feeling more comfortable using my voice in these spaces and to share how my research is rooted in my personal history (the little girl in the photo in my presentation is me!) and in the disparities I observed while growing up.

(and old) debates, reconnecting with colleagues and meeting new ones (or finally meeting people you've been reading for ages!), but also witnessing the disparities between institutions from the global North and South all within the context of the chaos that is our current world.
