12 hour night shift last night, half of it spent monitoring a queue of 10 ambulances at A&E. 170 patients in the department. 15.5 hour wait to see a doctor. One crew 5.5 hours late finishing their shift. And this is BEFORE strikes.

But when your family time is being constantly eroded because of your professional responsibilities, that job to an extent dictates how much time you can spend at home being a parent, spouse etc. How is that sustainable?

A technician just taught me, on returning a deceased patient to bed, she finds a nearby bottle of perfume and spritzes the pillow - “So, if they kiss her goodbye, she still smells like their Mum.” Which is the most beautiful, human, tender EOL care thing I’ve ever heard. 🥲
