Thank you @HanboMillar for putting into words the very real realities of the harm young people are facing daily including from the systems that are meant to protect them. We still need policy contexts to align with the #TCEProgramme Principles to create conditions for change.
Wrote a wee reflection on some of the things I heard during consultations with young people for #TCEProgramme If you want to talk about changing systems, there is a need to recognise & acknowledge young people's realities of so-called safeguarding systems.

We published multiple resources to help professionals to implement the Principles and there are a series of videos from children, young people parents & carers telling us what is important. If you do anything today, it’s to watch these clips (6/7) .
🧵As part of the development of the Practice Principles, we are so thankful to the 240+ children, young people, parents & carers who took part in consultation with us . This is a summary of what they shared with us linked to each Principle. #TCEProgramme.

…these Principles put everything in one place, they encourage everyone - whether working directly, in a managing role, a strategic leader or working for a local partnership - to consistently work in a child-centred, inclusive and relational way when responding to CE & EFH (5/7).

What we heard loud & clear was that even though the Principles look ‘obvious’ and aren’t anything ‘new’ - this is not what children, young people and families are experiencing consistently across the country. Although they aren’t the answer to responding to complex harms… (4/7).

Today we launched the Practice Principles, and I can proudly say we consulted with over 240 children, young people, parents & carers to develop the principles and some of them supported us to develop material to publish alongside the Principles (3/7).
