I used @jasonwebb’s Reaction-Diffusion playground to generate this pattern and carved it into plywood with my brand new CNC machine. I’ve long wanted to get more tactile with my work and I think this is the way forward.

Little known fact - this color palette was inspired by beets. Growing up Ukrainian, I ate a lot of borscht and remember the crazy saturated colors of beet soup fondly. An ode to my heritage in the shape of burger.

That's the power of coding visuals and the thing I love most about #generativeart: the ability to use math for expression; to modulate numbers over time. It's so pure and powerful and I am always looking for opportunities to bring motion to the browser. /6

You may have noticed certain layers drip. This is accomplished by each layer's drawing code just being a bunch of math. I used @greensock's tweening library, which is my go-to for animating because of its fidelity. /5

With the decision to lean into nostalgia (props to https://t.co/VSIp2CQ4Ru whose work embodies this), I began programming each ingredient as a little generative algorithm. The code says things like 'drawBun' with coordinates, sizes, and a color scheme. /4

We began with an evaluation of different styles, and looked at using vector 2D vs 3D vs photo-based. You may know that I spend most of my days developing w/ the wonderful @threejs and @pmndrs react-three-fiber, but we loved the nostalgic feeling of vintage burger ads. /3

Second of all, massive thanks to Karsten Schmidt for the incredible https://t.co/TaUjSmCIov library, which allows me to draw SVGs in a way that's intuitive. The geom and vector packages are very powerful. /2

Behold! A thread on my process for creating Arbiburgers with @arbitrum on @ProhibitionArt! First of all, it's an atypical project for me, in that it's highly figurative as opposed to my more abstract work you may be familiar with. /1
