From tiny 25 weeker at 707g, to junior doctor. Always thankful for the amazing care I received, and now is my chance to give back. 💜 #WorldPrematurityDay Thank you @TheAnondroid3 for always being my inspiration! @OUHospitals @SsnapOxford

I feel sad to leave my current team and a great rotation, but I feel ready to forge my way towards a career in paediatric medicine and I am excited to see where this journey takes me next. For now, two weeks of (already booked!) annual leave to rest and recharge 😊

I have cared for people at the very start and the very end of life. I have heard stories that made my heart sink, but witnessed moments that made it all worth it.

When I graduated, I wasn’t sure what a ‘successful career’ looked like. Over the past two years, my perspective has changed. I have come to see how important it is to protect a work-life balance and success isn’t only measured in titles, exams or prestige.

Rotating through 6 specialties gave me the chance to see medicine from different angles, work with inspiring colleagues, and think more deeply about the kind of doctor, and person, I want to be. It has been the perfect bridge between medical school and into clinical practice.

There’s a lot of frustration around working as a resident doctor in the NHS currently, and for good reason. But I’ve genuinely enjoyed this chapter; the privilege of caring for people, the steep learning curve, and the small everyday moments that remind me why I chose medicine.

Tomorrow is my last shift as an F2 doctor, and with it, the end of foundation training. It feels quite bittersweet, and has made me pause and reflect on everything the last two years have taught me.

Skilled. Exhausted. Unemployed. That should be what we are talking about. I would like to know how many doctors are currently at risk of unemployment from August/September. I know of several clinical fellow jobs receiving over 500 applications for just one post. @TheBMA

Skilled. Exhausted. Underpaid. That’s the reality for NHS doctors earning just £17/hr to care for your loved ones in their most critical moments. Resident doctors are asking for £22/hr. A fair wage for highly skilled work. But @wesstreeting won’t even come to the table. He’s

It is important doctors engage with this review. Medical training is broken and must be fixed. Training bottlenecks must go.

A bittersweet goodbye after 4 months in GP. A challenging, eye-opening but fantastic learning experience in inner city practice life! Looking forward to my next adventure in paediatrics - saving the best rotation until last!

Question please - if I reject an offer in specialty training this year, am I able to apply again the following year afresh?

Me: ‘Hi my name is Olivia I’m one of the junior doctors from the ward round this morning.’ Patient: Could you talk to my partner on the phone? ‘There’s some nurse or person, I don’t know what she is, who can talk to you.’ 🥲
