It's
#FreeComicBookDay
! Go visit your local stores.
"But I never read comic books/it's not for me"
Well, this is the perfect day then! Nobody will judge you, you can grab free samples and try out some things.
Do it!
So, you know how I think Jira is mediocre and fails at some super basic stuff? Here's how I work around that bullshit: I made my own hack UI for sprint planning and management. It contains literally everything Jira could easily do.
If you don't go to comic book stores you may expect certain things. Today, forget it!
It's like walking into any book store, except there's a table with special issue comics free for the taking.
A way for you to sample topics and find new comics. Do it!
#FreeComicBookDay
A screw it, let's do it:
TL,DR: AMP format doesn't support JavaScript in the way you can use it on regular web pages.
This prevents publishers from using header bidding with AMP (limits how many ad exchanges one can connect to @ a time, making it less desirable/useful; see doc)
People say "take your kids!"
Do, but also, take your parents! I bet they have not read a comic in a long time.
Or your spouse! Or your brother or sister. Do it!
But also, go alone!
It's a nice treat to yourself.

Hey people who make forms,
- Parent 1
- Parent 2
Done. It's not confusing or obscure or case-specific.
It works for every scenario, including 1 parent or no parents.
Twitter banning his account is not unlike the fools resigning now. It's just plausible deniability, not "the right thing to do".
Regardless, deplataforming works.
👋 fam! It’s time for our Friday night chat.
What’s one thing that made you smile or feel happy this past week? It can be ANYTHING big or small.
Tweet us. We will be here retweeting all night. Let’s spread the ❤️!
Took me ages to get the Women of NASA Lego set (continuously sold out).
I casually left it on the table last night.
@tinyLIpsum
just woke me up *extremely* excited like the most miraculous thing happened.

It truly does not matter that women outperform men on these metrics.
This is because men are generally evaluated on subjective potential, not on accomplishment.
It is pointless to continue proving men and women are equality capable when the problem is misogyny.
It’s probable that female leaders are far more competent than they think they are — while male leaders are less competent than they assume they are.

Why not just stick to web standards and build meat and potatoes web pages that can work with whatever ad exchange you need?
Because Google can also simultaneously exert pressure onto publishers to use AMP to increase likelihood of search ranking performance.
You don't need to know about their intentional wrongdoing to grasp how damaging to the principles of the open web AMP is.
However, as you read this and understand how AMP enables their scheme, it becomes very clear why they have gone about it this way.
Well, this is the day. My child asked me to explain how Google Sheets works so she can make a data table and charts for the classes she teaches her dolls.
She got it right away and went for conditional formatting immediately like her mama. I'm giddy.
I am delighted to share that I am joining

I will be product managing this impressive platform (btw wow: ) along with a team I stan hard for (I have no chill, they are really that good). 💪🏼
Why your project is not on time:
Workload Capacity = (Effort x Skill) / Time Available
Humans:
- bad at estimating the first
- over-promise on the second
- think the last one is fixed
Half of the population doesn't understand what it is like for the competent person to be passed over for the person thought to be the rightful one.
Half of the population does.
Today I am delighted to introduce Anne Lister's Sex Guide.

1. When two lesbians stare at each other from across the room and nobody makes a move.
2. When two lesbians accidentally brush up against each other and touch skin to skin.

P.S.: I don't understand baseball.
I just challenged the
@VoxProduct
team to read a section of the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines ) and to share a TIL with me every week day starting on Monday 4/29 and ending on May 16, Global Accessibility Awareness Day:
I've been on the Internet since 1998 and met most people I know this way.
I continue to be surprised by how resistant people are to calling others friends just because they have not met in person.
We are not our meat sacs.
It is difficult to talk to people about the difference between the conceptual structure of something and how that structure is represented in pixels.
People are capable of both conversations but struggle to have a conversation that holds both things in parallel.
Mom, this song is beautiful. Who is this?
The singer is Cindy Lauper, the song is called True Colors.
Can I listen to it again?
Yes.
*listens again*
Can I listen to it again?
Yes.
*listens again*
Mom, we are beautiful like the rainbow.
Machines are dumb and only do what we tell them to do so every breach, offense and transgression is either a design flaw or intentional bad faith choice.
@AskAManager
He is leaving his new partner at a moments notice AGAIN. He quit on the spot, obvs not considering this new partner. NOTHING LEARNED HERE.
The fact that one dumbass can make a completely false claim based on their fantasy of the world and the onus of proof relies on the institutions who are overburdened and charged with solving real problems is a real failure of the entire social system.
An online claim that Pfizer admits vaccinated people can "shed" the COVID-19 vaccine to unvaccinated people is false.
COVID-19 vaccines cannot spread between people. Posts making that claim are misrepresenting language in a protocol document.
You really don't need to be in healthcare to understand this; any person in tech knows if you don't test you have less bugs.
BECAUSE YOU ARE LYING TO YOURSELF AND IGNORING THE REALITY THAT A BUG EXISTS REGARDLESS OF IT BEING TRACKED.
#COVID19
Why do we fear complexity?
When you tell me something is complex I hear "it's going to take longer for me to explain and longer for you to understand than you might have previously anticipated".
Which, fine? What's TBD?
This way Google can make itself indispensable in your ad buying workflow, creating the conditions for more nefarious practices to up their fee-based racket (won't get into that, not my wheelhouse)
But why can't people just walk away? Why not leave AMP behind?
It annoys me disproportionately that the future-facing receptacle of ideas and concepts for a product team is called a Backlog, the most past-oriented burden-filled stale sounding word there is.
ZOMG. People. This is very exciting! Are you a
🔘 full-stack engineer?
🔘 product designer?
🔘 engineering manager?
We suddenly have MULTIPLE open positions on our team.
It's my birthday! If you would like to celebrate me, please take this time and learn about *butch women*
What?! What is there to learn? Not a lot really, but you’d be surprised at how many people misunderstand that for other things resulting in wildly terrible conclusions.
Picked up
@tinyLIpsum
at Science Camp:
Mom, can you carry me home?
No, it's 10 blocks away.
Please. I'm so tired. It's hard to not nap.
Oh, I hear you. Growing up is hard.
And I start kindergarten in the fall and you won't carry me anymore...
😱
Reader, I carried her 10 blocks.
How? First by making search ranking AMP-preferred. That's an obvious walled garden so need to make that palatable: state this is about page performance and that AMP is higher performing than any regular web page.
Kid won her kindergarten's award for Effort this month and the school had a celebratory award breakfast this morning.
She was elated. Also "Mom, I can't believe we are eating at the library, that is so naughty!"
I have this Netflix show "The 2000s" playing in the background and almost got whiplash from the double take I did from seeing
@karaswisher
talking about AOL/Time Warner merger.

I'm not going to wait until summer for my 2021 drinks thread. Time is an illusion anyway.
Here's some beer. It's good. From Duclaw Brewing Co. in Baltimore.

In 1930 the Indiana Bell building was rotated 90°. Over a month, the structure was moved 15 inch/hr, all while 600 employees still worked there. There was no interruption to gas, heat, electricity, water, sewage, or the telephone service they provided. No one inside felt it move.
Just got a message from family WhatsApp in Brazil defining Brexit as a verb: "When you say goodbye to everyone at the party but continue to hang out".
lolsob
The kid is enamored with this tree since we moved and wants to lay under it and hang out for a few minutes every day.
I honestly don't care that she is late to school. Enjoy your tree
