It’s the job of the folks who already know these things to transmit those lessons, but it’s a hard balance because it’s never helpful to talk down to younger comrades (and being perceived as doing so is a great way for it to go in one ear and out the other).

Very painful to see every new crop of student activists learn anew the lesson that negotiating with admin is a waste of time, and that the university can and does do whatever it wants regardless of what it has vaguely promised to students.
This is unironically why it's so hard to organize on college campuses in a meaningful way. Every four years you have a total refresh of student-institutional knowledge and a fresh crop of naive 18 year olds who don't even realize how much has been lost before they even enrolled.
