Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real? #IStandWithMaya #ThisIsNotADrill

The #Pinknews news surely comes as no surprise, but also finding out I'm somewhat distantly related to @jk_rowling, what a week! 😊 #winning

Horrific. As the parent of a SEN child, after such treatment she wouldn't (couldn't) go back. These are not rules but petty and punitive power acts risking a child education. BBC News - Parents 'disgusted' by Whittlesey school uniform rules - BBC News https://t.co/xoylqsOyCJ

The school says it reminded parents about the rules during the summer term.

'It’s 2024. Brands need to stop thinking that “sex sells” when it comes to children, and start proactively axing outdated, gendered clothing' Zara’s latest PR disaster shows a much more disturbing High Street trend https://t.co/ud1yeLRsuH

The retailer has been forced to apologise for its ‘suggestive’ T-shirts for girls – but it’s part of a wider landscape of sexism when it comes to kids’ clothes, writes Helen Coffey

Could any picture sum up our new men’s rights movement better? The smirk of a male who’s knows he’s protected by a misogynist sporting establishment enjoying the distress of a woman he’s just punched in the head, and whose life’s ambition he’s just shattered. #Paris2024

Scandal. Disgrace. Outrage. Sponsors should pull out from supporting the Olympics. Why would they want their brand associated with this?
In a highly emotional interview, Angela Carini has just explained that she abandoned because she had never been punched so hard. Imane Khelif said nothing. And this is the issue that the IOC’s Mark Adams suggested everyone should just ‘dial down’. An absolute scandal

Wholy disingenuous to promote #schooluniform as social leveller only to then utilise as a point of discipline. Impossible not to experience as purely punitive by those who simply CANNOT comply! @AndyBurnhamGM

A parent messaged me today with the copy of a letter from their child's school. Any child who doesn't have all the right equipment on any day will get a demerit and an automatic hour long detention after school. How many adults would like that policy in their workplace? Would it

Don't just make this about political point scoring, Dyers comments reflect a cultural problem rooted in control of girls and young women. Girls are taught shame, boys are taught girls bodies are wrong. Please allow me to share my research with you francescacircus@gmail.com

@MikeAmesburyMP @MENnewsdesk Dwyers comment wrong, BUT reflects a common attitude to girls clothing perpetrated by SCHOOLS who actively punish girls over skirt length in name of morality and concerns about "vulnerability." 1/2 https://t.co/56R8wBOlW1

This morning I made a mistake. As a result I was 20 minutes late for a meeting. No one gave me a behaviour point. I apologised and we moved on. I’m not in detention now. That’s because I’m an adult and I live in the real world. Why should our teenagers be treated so differently?

I’m hearing more and more examples of school micro-control of teenagers. Behaviour points for the wrong earrings or socks, for not being immediately ‘on-task’ or for losing your pen. Schools say that if they control the small stuff, the big stuff will follow. They are wrong. 1/

This is so disappointing. I had real hopes that the @UKLabour would be able to see beyond the rhetoric and think flexibly about education, but this is more of the same. Attendance itself isn't the problem. Poor attendance signals that there is a problem. You can't make that
The single biggest problem in education today: children aren’t at school. Labour has a plan to get our children into school and learning again. Excellence must be for everyone.
