I apologize in advance for the many formatting issues with this text, I put this up some years ago now (how time flies) when there was scarcely anyone generously pointing out the mistakes for me. I will rework all of this into a better structured series on the Algerian matter.

We tend to develop fondness for people we get to know. Possible this would be the case for any leader, that our every criticism would fall flat upon closer examination. I know I’ve come to really love Napoleon as if I knew him. But I suspect these were simply exceptional men.
