Crypto gets a hard time regarding its carbon footprint The truth is, new research shows that 8 big banks + 10 asset managers generated 79 x more emissions than all of crypto mining, 2.169 billion tonnes of CO2. If these banks were a country, they'd be the 5th largest emitter.

This is a tongue-in-cheek, but realistic view of the current state of DAOs and DAO onboarding tooling - great to have this summarised as problems to solve and to be aware of, thanks @petergyang
What is a DAO? Let me try to explain using an example: Imagine that you want to work for a hot tech startup...

@forefront__ @joincolony @superdao_co interested if you've seen the same from the emerging DAOs you've been working with? Have they come to similar conclusions sooner or are there better ways to think about showing value loop sooner?

8/ Social DAOs should focus on community-building first, & likely more emergent than service DAOs, which should focus on minimum viable product/platform to show & onboard into value-delivery first, then focus on conversion of members through small bounties into full contributors.

7/ Users in service DAOs don't immediately become contributors, they need time to move through the explorer->marketplace contributor->DAO contributor loop first. Bounty board seems perfect to show how to create value early, get rewards, and help build the DAO.

6/ Either that, which allows you to onboard dao-builders and your community "service" users versus having to bring dao builders on first. Service DAOs are mostly marketplaces, so have to solve chicken and egg too.

5/ Does mean that if you haven't tokenised yet you still need a way to reward ppl, maybe with a virtual token that converts into real tokens once you're tokenised, just to make it clear of the contributor reward loop.

4/ That bounty mechanism solves onboarding onto value creation in service DAOs, rather than having to join what feels like a big working group & understand the relationship dynamics to add some value versus doing a small task for the DAO in a lightweight way, with a small reward

3/ We're realising that in service DAOs, this is probably bounty mechanism, where early bounties are DAO tasks (design us a logo, write us a community mgmt strat), but over time this becomes member focussed (find me a network, find me mentorship, etc).

1/ After founding & launching a #DAO over the last 3 months and trying my hardest to stick to the best-practice rhetoric around community first, product second - I'm starting to realise that only feels right for social DAOs and not all DAOs, esp. service DAOs.
