Hi! This is an incredibly important thread on why assuming a woman == a person with a uterus is harmful to many folks! As we work in reproductive science and towards reproductive autonomy it’s important to foster terminology that is inclusive. I encourage all to read this 🧵
"People with a uterus" is not new terminology to erase or replace the word "women" nor does it exist to reduce women to their reproductive system. A thread 👇

I'm so excited to announce that my Master's work with @profjoycewong and Brett Isenberg is now published in Bioactive Materials! We looked at how uterine SMCs respond to mechanical strain and substrate coatings that are important in pregnancy. https://t.co/i2U1ialL1s

I just realized my first author publication was not only ACCEPTED while I was in the midst of quals but is now IN PRESS! Feel free to check out our work on modeling primary colon permeability and cytokine damage on a high-throughput OOC platform below: https://t.co/9Os5d3R5N1

Tonight I had a very sweet ending to a long quals process, with a delicious bottle of Lambrusco decorated with the manuscript we've spent *weeks* pouring over, courtesy of @JuanGnecco4 . Onto a summer full of uterine cell culture and data collecting!!!

It’s Rare Disease Day! 300 million people live with rare diseases worldwide. Together, we are not so rare. Proud to show our colors, stripes and genes with my rare daughter Margot and advocate for those with rare diseases. #RareDiseaseDay2023 #raredisease

Super excited to share our new single-cell study, an atlas of the murine reproductive tissues in preterm labor. This useful resource can be explored to further understand the cellular signaling of preterm labor/birth. @CellReports

With fall classes over and a long reading to-do list, I saw a thread previously by @rdpalacio and decided to explore @RsrchRabbit . What an incredible way to review literature and identify key papers on a topic! You can even filter by last name authors to ID key labs.

Finished off my bioinformatics class with a poster session! Got to chat about my reanalysis of differential gene expression and pathway enrichment in trophoblasts on a scRNA seq data set published by Roser Vento-Tormo et al. (Nature 2018). Def a fan of R after this semester.

Very wholesome ride. A lot of the GLX construction crew were taking the line and all meeting up at the last stop with hugs… so many people waiting to board! After Lechemere, the new tracks are so smooth. The green line starts CRUISING. Such a fun ride! GO TRY IT OUT!
