CEDAR & @MRC_Epid researcher @dollytheis comments on the @Food_Foundation #BrokenPlate2022 report, which found that healthy food is nearly three times more expensive than unhealthy products, and increasingly unaffordable for many. Read the report➡️ https://t.co/Vs3IemMVSn (1/2)

'Women on lower incomes face the biggest losses in earnings - In the first three years after having a baby, women on lower incomes saw their earnings fall by around 30%. But women on higher wages saw their earnings drop by around 20%' yikessss 😬
Mums in the UK miss out on £66k of earnings in the decade following the birth of their child. @SMFthinktank analysis of UKHLS measured the money a woman would have earned if her career had progressed in the way that similar women without children earn.

Fascinating findings from @BrianK_Lo at #ISBNPA2022 - higher engagement from fathers in #earlyyears caregiving showed benefits for fathers own health and wellbeing (benefits reach beyond the children themselves) 👨👧🏃🍏

It’s really surprised me the lack of health support for partners of mothers with newborn babies. In the (paid) NCT antenatal classes we ‘dads’ were shown 6 ‘Mr Men’ cards with all the roles we were expected to play, while also being sleep deprived & adapting. (1/n)

a real set back. welcome the 15 new specialist centres for severe childhood obesity but we need far more support in primary care and public health.
Today's release from the National Child Measurement Programme shows a huge rise in childhood obesity in England between 2019/20 and 2020/21. In an average class of 30 year six primary school children, 12 will have overweight or obesity - 40% up from 35% the year before 🧵
