I haven't been around here much lately, and I think I'll continue that trend. Twitter not letting me share a link to my account at the other site just confirms that decision. You can find me over there: @sitek@fediscience.org. Come say hi!

Me, sitting in my lab at Pitt in my London Transport Museum t-shirt, reading this tweet: choo choo 🚉 (and also whatever sound a bus makes 🚍)
Why are trains the best form of transportation? 🚆Because they have a proven track record! All (terrible) jokes aside, remember, your Panther Card gets you all over the city with free rides on @PGHtransit buses, inclines, and light rails. #h2p #pitt #publictransportation

This was awesome to attend in-person at #OHBM2022—highly recommend watching or listening to the podcast for a great discussion on what IS possible with well-designed, focused MRI studies.
This week on a special live recorded #Neurosalience
@fmri_today chats with: @AvramHolmes @GrattonCaterina @PTenigma and @monicarosenb about the way forward to better BWAS studies. Watch on YouTube: https://t.co/24BCuZL5eQ Listen on Anchor: https://t.co/SClxRGg6z4

Pittsburgh contingent of the @SoundBrainLab is on the way to #SNL2022! Get ready for some speech-in-noise and subcortical auditory chatter over the next few days. But for now, trains 🚂 🚞 🚆

These results nicely fit with the classic non-human primate tracer literature, where primary auditory cortex preferentially connects to caudal dorsal striatum, and caudate head receives most of its inputs from anterior superior temporal cortex: (6/7)

Zooming in on just auditory core and belt regions, connections mainly reach caudoventral putamen: (5/7)

What did we find? Much greater connectivity between auditory cortices and putamen vs. caudate, with only anterior superior temporal cortex showing strong connectivity with caudate. Here are the endpoints of corticostriatal streamlines, color-coded by cortical region: (4/7)

So we used @FuyixueWang's incredible 760 µm diffusion MRI dataset (shared in DSI Studio format by @FangChengYeh) to estimate connections between superior temporal cortex and dorsal striatum. (dMRI data link: https://t.co/24c17TrQhU) (3/n)

Dorsal striatum plays a critical role in language and audition. But despite the importance of dorsal striatum in human communication, the structural pathways between dorsal striatal subregions and auditory cortex have not been mapped comprehensively in the human brain. (2/7)

New preprint! Together with @HelouLab and @bchandra_pitt/@SoundBrainLab, we mapped auditory corticostriatal connections in the human brain using diffusion MRI tractography https://t.co/4swlvZu3ut (1/7)

We're looking for new voices to join our blog, podcast, and science outreach efforts! No #scicomm experience necessary—just an interest in sharing new research and ideas within (and beyond!) the human brain mapping community 🧠🗺️ Come join us!
The #OHBM Communications Committee is looking for new members interested in improving their science communication skills through interactions within #OHBM and outreach to the general public. If interested, please fill out the form below! Interest Form -> https://t.co/FyiDSdBhci
