No means testing? Where is the outsourcing to a ngo to deliver it? Can we squeeze in a concessional loan here somehow?.

Gov announced it will waive 1.2 million small, accidental social security debts valued <$250. A new income apportionment resolution scheme will be established providing resolution payments up to $600 to those affected from 2003-2020 (will need to apply)

Worth remembering that population today is almost exactly (slightly lower) than where we expected it to be pre-covid. Also, dwelling growth > population growth last 10 years.

Despite this, nevertheless, DEWR still got what it paid for - a report that concludes that this is no big deal and we can all stop paying attention to it now.

not going to go through this whole document, but even if it wasn't produced by AI it is still of low quality. for example, it cites a Finance document about the three lines of defence for risk management. and completely butchers it (and also cites two documents in one source)

The faces following the press conference today. Call me cynical perhaps but they’re faces of people who have just done something and said something they didn’t want to do or say.

We can narrow down the moment the 1989-90 Budget went woke to somewhere between 24 April 2024 and 1 October 2024

If I was an Accountable Authority and someone pitched to me in 2025 that we should do a podcast, I could instantly make a small but important productivity saving by firing the person doing the pitching.

MMTers would be a lot more credible if they didn't present random slides from 15 years ago deliberately removed from their context and claim they represent the hidden unofficial truth of the world.

Pity Steven doesn't disclose that this slide comes from a ~2007 AOFM presentation about how they don't need to issue Bonds for budget funding purposes in 2007 because of the government's cash surplus, but nonetheless decided to so as to keep the market for Treasuries alive.

I know this slide I used in a talk in 2014 is a bit out of context, but it is so rare to see the truth represented on a semi-official document that I like to share it again every now and then. It is the fourth point which is the relevant one.
