An important reminder!
Vonnegut's reflection is a breath of fresh air in an achievement-crazy culture - and particularly welcome in contrast to the grit mindset that says kids must stick with one thing until they master it (even if joylessly) rather than sampling a broad range of experiences.

Wow. Beyond the obvious brilliance of these 2 1/2 minutes, it’s making me think of connections to children’s learning. While the goal is a song that resonates (feels right), the path + the final “product” are not predefined. They emerge. What does it remind you of in your work?
I’ve never seen anything like this on film before. Paul really has nothing at the 30 second mark—but 45 seconds later he’s got the makings of a hit single.

Wrote this poem several months ago and it echoed inside me today. Sometimes we have no words. And sometimes words are all we have.
Though we strobed That we came in peace, He was already at war. We have battled hard to be. Nothing— Nothing— Can keep you safe. Silence least of all. Look alive, everyone. May such a prayer, A people, A peace, A promise, Be ours. Be right & radiant & real.
