Hearing about more and more veteran studios abandoning in-house tech for Unreal as Epic spirals deeper into financial trouble (see: the Bandcamp shit) fills me with a bit of dread.
Gonna be weird when the entire game industry's tech pipeline is owned by Bain Capital next June.
Leaving our proprietary tech behind was not easy, but sometimes you need to do what your gut tells you and embrace change.
Working in Unreal Engine has been super exciting and thanks to it, The Talos Principle 2 is easily our best looking game to date.

Reminder given recent rumors that you just can't trust them. They've been too quiet compared to their Quake 1 counterparts. They're clearly, *clearly* up to no good.
It was a janky mess of questionable quality that ran like a legless dog, but it had heart! And more importantly, pretty much the entire Retro FPS Revival genre sprang forth from its wreckage, either directly or otherwise, like a buggy, gib-riddled Velvet Underground.

This one Realm667 monster sprite in MetaDoom has annoyed me for literal years now, but I never had anything better at hand. I still need to do post-processing touchups and maybe some colour tinting, but the raw render looks pretty good!
