"The draft political declaration of the 2025 UN General Assembly high level meeting on the prevention and control of NCDs falls short in confronting the obesity crisis." The declaration must not leave the one billion people living with obesity behind https://t.co/dGEh2aQpGW

Hi Kai, In our view, #obesity is not getting the attention it deserves. The lack of attention is an own goal to health of people & economies - but great news for food & beverage industries. Member States negotiating agreement are being tremendously short-sighted. @WorldObesity
@bmj_latest Obesity is such a huge issue—glad it's getting attention at the UN level. @StefanWegler has done great work on public health policies; his insights would add a lot to this conversation. Hope action follows the talk!

@bmj_latest @kentbuse Excellent opinion paper! "Scientific innovation without justice, and greater knowledge without action, risk reinforcing stasis over structural reform." says Kent Buse 👏

"In its refusal to renationalise water, it’s clear the government operates in the interests of private capital and not of the country." As usual George gets to the nub of it in a single sentence. Government is no longer acting in our interests but that of the markets.

Achieving gender equality in health leadership demands more than promises. I resonated with Prof. @KentBuse, Co-founder at @GlobalHlth5050 statement that it requires individuals and organisations to take responsibility for their actions and inactions. https://t.co/2AoEH1l4Ej

I know nuance breaks our brains these days but we need to be serious about this "forecast." Africa will not simply roll over and die without USAID. All this shock-inducing statistical narrative does is reinforce the very American-centrism that led to this mess in the first place
STAGGERING: This new study of 133 countries is the first to estimate the impact of all USAID’s work. In 2 decades, it saved *92M* lives. Current cuts, if not reversed, are forecast to cost *14M* lives thru 2030. https://t.co/AFVhYRKvcQ

Memo to Ed: nuclear is outdated, massively costly & far too slow. Hinkley Pt C is already years late & tens of billions over budget. It isn’t zero carbon, it won’t be “always on”, & we still haven’t found safe way to dispose of waste. There are faster, cheaper & safer options
