Sad news. Margaret Boden’s book The Creative Mind influenced my thinking on creativity early on. Her notion of transformational creativity remains relevant today. Of all the things people knock LLMs for lacking, transformational creativity is the true prize.

.@jim_rutt took me on a real deep dive into the Fractured Entangled Representation (FER) Hypothesis on his podcast. Worth a listen if you’re looking for more on this topic:.
I talked with @kenneth0stanley about the Fractured Entanglement Representation hypothesis in deep learning neural networks. We discussed open-endedness in AI systems & evolution, the Picbreeder experiment & its significance, the objective paradox of.

benchmarkmaxxing = the objective paradox = the myth of the objective = Why Greatness Cannot Be Planned = the security blanket of objectives = what’s happening now is a predictable outcome of objective obsession.
I'm noticing that due to (I think?) a lot of benchmarkmaxxing on long horizon tasks, LLMs are becoming a little too agentic by default, a little beyond my average use case. For example in coding, the models now tend to reason for a fairly long time, they have an inclination to.
