The science is clear…guardian caps don’t help prevent concussions in high school football. What they do is give kids, parents & coaches a false sense of safety; which can lead to increased injuries due to poor technique & under-reporting of symptoms of concussion.

These positions have to stop. University of Tennessee (@Vol_Sports) has 3 “internship opportunities” for licensed, credentialed ATs. The stipend for this 12-month, 40+ hr/week position is… $27000. Plus, a parking pass.

So now that research has shown that guardian caps provide no added protection against concussions, can we get state governing bodies to ban them? They only provide a false sense of safety, which may put athletes at greater risk of injury due to reliance on gimmicky gear.
