As a reminder, the first trans reconstructive genital surgery on record was performed in 1907.

Just really, profoundly sad. Saying it because I donโ€™t know what else to do.

Ask not what your president can do to bring down the price of gas. Ask what your mayor can do to make it possible to get around without a car.

Fyi: "They/Thems" is not a noun to describe a group of people who use they/them pronouns. We are people..."people who use they/them pronouns." ๐Ÿ˜ณ

today we mourn for george floyd, murdered two years ago by the police, and for 19 children, murdered yesterday while police waited, too scared to protect them. the solution is not & cannot be more police.

It makes sense for Manitoba to have the lowest minimum wage in the country because we already had the lowest morale.

Today is Trans Day of Visibility. This week a conservative politician called for our deaths by firing squad. Another banned mention of us from schools. Others call for trans children to be removed from supportive parents. 1/

So sick right now. Just had to remind myself it is okay to stay on the couch, and no I should not bring my laptop here to check emails.

Ok...thanks for the effort but these are not gender affirming surgeries, and some trans folks are straight, too.

I know more women than I can can count whoโ€™ve had breast implants. When I was a nursing student, I did post-op care for a man who had a penile implant. Remember: straight people get gender affirming surgery and care every day.

Staying in a hotel room with one's supervisor is still common practice in many fields. The fact that there continues to be a misunderstanding of the power imbalance puts so many students and post-docs at risk.

Urg. This has totally happened to me and I have to say it is still one of the most uncomfortable and upsetting things that I endured in academia.

I live in a space internationally known for being homophobic. I am visibly queer. And I am tired. And tomorrow I will get up and be "brave" because that is apparently what drawing breath is when you live in these conditions.

There are days when people not using my correct pronouns runs off my back. Then there are days like today when I am tired, angry, defeated. I am tired of being an "inspiration" and have everything I do -- getting groceries, going to the effing 7-11 -- be a political act. #they

Can I be honest about something I'm struggling with? The number of friends and family who, it seems overnight, now view me as a member of the 'mainstream media' above all else. ๐Ÿงต 1/4

I retweeted this earlier without comment, but I have been thinking about it more since then. The generalization that "rural" folks make up a lot of the protesters is just another way of folks not owning these convoy folks as our own. Urban folks own big trucks and snowmobiles.

Being queer saved my life. Often we see queerness as deprivation. But when I look at my life, I saw that queerness demanded an alternative innovation from me. I had to make alternative routes; it made me curious; it made me ask, "Is this enough for me?" โ€”Ocean Vuong
