Postdoc salaries at UK universities start at below the new government minimum threshold for skilled workers. Meaning universities will hardly hire from abroad. Inward looking policies are self destructive.

We’re increasing the minimum earnings threshold for skilled workers by 48% to £38,700, encouraging businesses to look to British talent first and invest in their workforce.

The fact that we know what the verdict SHOULD be but remain unsure of what it WILL be speaks volumes about our nation. We have work to do.

After wk 1 of vaccinating in a small town pharmacy I can see that our role is not to run a numbers game. It is about clinical conversations with the vulnerable and the hesitant, assisting the less-than-mobile, the internet un-savvy. We did those things and made a difference.

THINK LIKE AN EPIDEMIOLOGIST: Lately I have been asked why we are seeing a dramatic turnaround in cases in the US. Is it vaccines? Herd immunity? An artifact due to a drop in testing? Behavior change? Weather?? A few tweets about how I step through this question. 1/6
