The impact of Parkinson's on those affected is profound. This year I have spent more hours in hospitals, visiting and caring for my mother, than I have in museums. That is why I am raising money for @ParkinsonsUK. https://t.co/iwRtGTeF4f

And in today's Festive Reel I sing Silent Night and talk about the Christmas Truce of 1914 that didn't apply in Dover because the Germans dropped a bomb on us instead. https://t.co/4togy9TeRh

Yesterday's festive reel for Dover Museum. I sing 'I Saw Three Ships' and tell about the arrival of Augustine's mission to Bertha and Ethelbert of Kent and the spread of Christianity in the Anglo-Saxon Heptarchy. https://t.co/v19j7FeDsQ

Well this is load of nonsense. Without any knowledge of the topic you should be able to ask two probing questions: 1. Where does this numerical data come from and how can it be so accurate? 2. Why were the Romans worried before their population had even peaked? #BadAncient
The fall of Rome is widely misunderstood. It wasn't invasion, disease or famine that truly brought it to its knees. Rome collapsed because the birth rate did… (thread) 🧵

Study upon study, report upon report & anecdote upon anecdote reveal the class inequality in our cultural sector. Change is long overdue & needs to start at grass roots all the way up to top institutions - which needs investment, so it won't happen. https://t.co/NB08LtyEIH

@DoverMuseum Whether or not they had little carts for their tails is another matter! But if they don't, they should! Oh, and that second kind of fat-tailed sheep with the broader tails? Yeah they're T H I C C!

@DoverMuseum Of course if Herodotus said it is must be false! Well, fat-tailed sheep varieties are very real! They are common in Asia, particularly hot regions as the tail carries the fat leaving the sheep quite lean and resistant to heat-related issues.

I found this etching in an illustrated bible in @DoverMuseum's collection and fell in love! But did you know the origins of this image are rooted in the classics. In The Histories by Herodotus he describes them!

Oh God, I can already see it... "Ancient stone monument? Marvel of archaeological architecture? Called the 'Aelian Wall', you say?"
🏛 The truly wonderful #Roman Staffordshire Moorlands Pan, a possible souvenir of Hadrian's Wall that names four of its western forts and might suggest HW was called the 'Aelian Wall' by Romans. The pan is from a copper-alloy 'trulla' with polychrome vitreous enamel decoration.
