I wonder how much of the "sex recession" is just the population getting older

Many people argue that attributing part of success to luck or genes rather than putting it all on hard work undermines the value of effort. I disagree. It doesn't. What it does is prevent us from wildly over-rewarding minor differences in effort.

Compared to New York and Philadelphia, Boston feels surprisingly sane.

I wonder if HR-themed tarot cards were the thing you were missing in your life. Link in the comment.

I'm planning to visit New York City, Philadelphia and Boston at the end of June and beginning of July. Let me know if you would like to meet up.

People making bold guesses about the next 10 years are no better off than Victorians guessing about the year 2000. Their predictions say more about their mindset than about what’s actually coming.

Seems like in metaphysics you either think reality is an illusion or consciousness/awareness is an illusion. There seem to be no other choice. People calling themselves non-dualists ultimately fail to integrate both perspectives. They are mostly idealists.

How is it even possible that conservatives are for AI and progressives are against it? Do conservative/progressive labels mean anything anymore?

Lo and behold, my own definition of values: "Values are contextualized motivational priorities that arise when stable personality traits interact with an individual’s basic psychological needs, interpreted through the lens of their cultural environment.".

Calling it 'Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder' assumes the trauma caused the stress. But correlation ≠ causation—maybe some people are just predisposed to both stress and bad experiences. A classic post hoc fallacy baked into the diagnosis.

What I believe Musk believes re race: government discrimination on the basis of race should be illegal, including positive discrimination, while private discrimination should be legal (where legal ≠ moral). That's not Nazism. That's pretty standard libertarianism.

Anyone believing Musk is a Nazi, would you please make a testable prediction? As a Nazi what’s he going to do next by when?.

Most people find it hard to believe in Adam Smith's “invisible hand” for the same reason they find it hard to believe in evolution. They want to see intentionality at the highest possible level, they want to see Grand Design.

Refusal to criticise other people’s values is noble, but refusal to criticise other people’s beliefs is cowardly. Beliefs and values are not the same thing.
