In his Christmas Tree Lecture today, Don Knuth showed a subtle one-to-one correspondence between twintrees, baxter permutations, and floorplans. As an early present, he gifted me a hardcopy TAOCP vol. 1 and personally signed it! 🎄💻

Check out our work on neural functional networks (NFNs), a new architecture for processing the weight space of neural nets!. Notably, our NFNs account for permutation symmetries in the weights. This enables many applications: designing learned optimizers, editing weights & more!.
The order of features in a neural net doesn’t affect its function. But, hypernetworks & models that process neural net weights don’t account for this!. Turns out we can encode this permutation invariance in neural functional networks.

3D printed and painted my panda today! 🐼🌲❤️ I trained a neural radiance field (NeRF) to construct a 3D model from video, and then exported the NeRF into an STL file for printing :)

Here’s the printing in action! The video -> NeRF -> STL -> 3D pipeline enables almost any organic shapes to be 3D printed, even ones that would be super hard to CAD.
